Chapter Text
He wanted to tell them so badly. He did it was just so hard they had finally accepted him into their group. What would they do if they knew? Charlie knew, of course, he was the only one out of their group. Imogen probably knew just because they had grown up together, but she had never said anything.

Laughter rang through the room, my stomach cramping from laughter. Tao stood in front of us doing some weird dance that involved a lot of hips
"OH God, please stop," Darcy pleaded between breaths. Charlie's body shook as he tried to regain his composure. He looked up at me with big eyes, amusement shining within.
"What?" He asked. How do I try to explain the warm, fuzzy feeling I get when our eyes meet.
"Nothing." he simply laid his head on my shoulder in response. My heart picked up the pace at the sight of him relaxed and happy.

"You two are gross," Imogen piped up, drawing my attention to her. She was seated across from us on the floor. We had all come over to Charlie's supposedly to study, but that had quickly been pushed aside.

"You're one to talk. You were gushing about your crush to me the other day," I retort.

"Crush" Elle chimes.

" What crush?" Tara practically climbing over Darcy to get to Imogen. She glares at me, her cheeks tinted with rose.

"You didn't tell me you guys had talked about that," Charlie whispers to me.

"We didn't," I respond, " but her reaction is telling." Charlie simply chuckles in agreement. The scents in the room are happy. Charlie's fresh mint, Taos warm bread, and Isaac's new book are the most prominent that I can pick out considering their closest to me it makes sense. I can pick up hints of floral from one of the girls it blends well. It smells like a pack. An overwhelming urge to purr shocks me to the core. I never purr... unless I'm nearing my heat. No, that can't be right. Right? I quickly pull out my phone and check my tracking app. Nothing I am not supposed to start for another month. My panic subsidies slowly, I can feel Charlie's confused stare.

"Just checking," I murmur to him. He accepts the answer and turns back to the conversation happening around us.

"So" Tara claps to everyone's attention. " Who's excited about the Paris trip?"
A corresponding yes rings through the room, Issac nodding into his book.

"See, I'm excited, but I'm torn between two outfits and can't decide which one I want to take." Elle huffs.
Charlie pushed himself up and off me, I tramped down the urge to whine.

"Do you photos?" Charlie asks

"Yeah," she pulled out her phone, scrolling for a moment before she found what she wanted.

"Here, these are my options." she passed her phone to Charlie first. One was a pale floral dress, and the other was a dark blue matching pant set.

"Dress," Charlie replied.

"Same," I agreed

"Are you sure?" Elle asks uncertainty laced in voice.

"I agree the dress is cute," Tao says.

"Ok," a blush stained both their cheeks. Darcy rolls her eyes behind them, making me chuckle. I glanced down at my phone at 7:47 time for me to get home.

"Hey guys, I have to get going. mom wanted me home by 8."

"Awww," they all groaned. Charlie flopped back into my shoulder, giving me his best puppy dog eyes. My inner omega purred in contentment that I was the center of my alphas attention.

"I know I'm sorry, but I have to."

"Come on, I'll walk you out." Charlie got up off the couch, dragging me along with him.

"Bye, Nick,"

"Bye,"

"See you later,"

"Bye,"

"Bye guys," I waved to them as I walked out. I slipped on my shoes by door.

"So what was that about in there," Charlie asks, hands clasped in front of him. It took me a moment to realize what he was talking about.

"Oh, my instincts were being weird. I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be in.. you know.. for the Paris trip." My face burned. Don't think about Charlie, and heats don't.

"Oh," the flush on his face matched mine.

"Sorry for making this awkward."

"What have I said about the s-word?"

"But -"

"No buts"

"Fine, fine, you should go before your mom gets mad,"

"Yeah." I wrapped my arms around his waist, bringing my forhead to his. Who knows who leaned in first. I hope that kissing him never stops feeling like this. Warm and safe, like home.
"Bye," I whisper

"Bye." I finally managed to pull myself away.

"Text me when you get home,"

"I will." I step out into warm air, looking back at his smile one more time. I head home.
