Summary:
As if he had the ability to read Charlie's mind, Nick dropped his line of enquiry, and instead threw one of his legs over both of Charlie's, hooking his ankle around the back of Charlie's calf muscle so that he was literally clinging to Charlie with his whole body.
"Well, I'm not letting go. So you have to come," he said, resolutely.
"Okay fine," Charlie giggled.————————
Or, it's the night before Nick leaves to go to Menorca and he is having a hard time with the idea of going without Charlie.
Set in the second summer of Nick & Charlie's relationship, so one year after the Menorca holiday in chapter 5 of the comic.

Work Text:
"You're supposed to be packing.." Charlie was lying on his back on his boyfriend's bed amongst sprawling piles of scrunched up clothes, with said boyfriend cuddled up in the crook of his arm. The front of Nick's body was pressed against the side of Charlie's, his head resting on Charlie's chest. He made no attempt to move at the comment, except for wrapping his arm even tighter around Charlie's waist."Why aren't you coming with me, again?"
"Because Jane Spring was being extra Jane Springy and wouldn't allow it."
"Uuuuuhhhhhh," Nick whined, turning to bury his face even further into Charlie's t-shirt.
"I know, I'm sorry." Charlie tried to console him, running a hand lightly across his shoulders.
"No s word," Nick said quickly, it was almost a reflex at this point. "But, like, why though?"
"Something about three weeks being too long to be away from home, and the imposition on your mum, and me needing to do something productive with my summer? I don't know, a bunch of bullshit reasons, basically," Charlie sighed.
"You do know my mum actually wants you to come?"
"Well yeah, I know that, I think even my mum does. It's not really about that, I think.." Charlie trailed off. They both knew what it was really about, but he didn't want to actually say it out loud. Acknowledging his mother's inability to trust him to manage his own mental health without her constant hovering and unhelpful input was a sure way to bring the mood down.
"Okay fine," Charlie giggled. He lay there for a moment, letting himself be loved. It was far too hot for this kind of full body contact really, even as the sun was slipping below the horizon, the August air was thick and syrupy. But Charlie wanted to soak up as much of Nick as he could. He wanted to commit the feeling of being held like this to memory so that he could mentally revisit it over the next three weeks that they were going to be spending apart, while Nick was on his annual family holiday. He let his hands wander absentmindedly; up and down the back of Nick's arm, across his shoulder blades, up the back of his neck and into his hair while Nick made little, contented humming noises that reverberated back into Charlie's chest. This. Why can't we just stay like this forever and be left alone by everybody else?
Eventually, the sensible side of Charlie's brain kicked in. "Seriously though, if you don't actually do some packing you're gonna end up in Menorca with only..." he craned his neck to look at the open suitcase on the floor, and then listed the contents, "a pair of flip flips, your swimming trunks and two tank tops."
