Summary:

"You're gonna nab the first fit guy that walks by. You need a date to this wedding. We have about two days to get you one," Elle says, then looks at Charlie from beneath her eyelashes. She promises, "And we will."

Charlie swallows, vexed.

And then (world-shiftingly, life-alteringly):

"Hi."

Charlie cannot move. It's as if the world has stopped spinning on its axis. Like this, right here, is the reason the world was spinning at all, and now that he's made it to this place, there is nothing left to be done. The world may rest. Dear God, he suddenly wants to know everything about this man from one smile, wants to see him in every light and love him in each one. He feels like he's falling into pieces. He wants this man to put them all back together.

God, Charlie doesn't even know him.

or, Charlie meets Nick and invites him to Tori's wedding where Tori is marrying her soulmate; Charlie starts to realize he may have met his own.

hi! so this stupid love letter to judaism in the form of a fluffy nick/charlie fic means the world to me. what's not to like! the world at this stupid fucking moment needs a little jewish joy IF YOU ASK ME! yes this is way too many words of fluff (and a bit of angst in parts two and three!) about weddings and love at first sight and soulmates (though i would not call it a soulmate au in earnest, as the tags say, because the familiar elements to stereotypical soulmate aus are not there. this is shrimply a fic with the idea that soulmates are real, and nick and charlie have found theirs). but also it's about a tiktok i got so much inspiration from that all this got made, but also it's about family, but also it's about chuppahs, so like.

this is dedicated to MYSELF! I HAVE SELF-ESTEEM NOW! no— i mean, it is, but it's also dedicated to all the jews (and our friendly neighborhood allies) in this heartstopper house (especially my most entrusted theo, who is the real hero (and very graciously the ever-lovely beta) of this very weird, very strange and very manic fic. he shepherded me into a normal direction for this to take, so. thank him for this being at all coherent) (and, of course, our beloved goy lina, always my cheerleader)

this is also dedicated to anyone reading this who thinks they haven't found their soulmate. people (and things) in your life already are, romantic or not. fall in love with the world around you. it already loves you back, even if it doesn't always feel that way. if you do need a little escape from that world, though, nick and charlie are here to provide you that reprieve <3

there's also a few various non-english words, phrases and various objects/events/situations in here! mostly yiddish, some spanish, tiny, tiny bits of ladino (the sephardic language if you weren't aware!) and french (thank nicholas!). all are linked when they pop up with correct translations! a lot of research of cultures and concepts went into this fic and it's kind of my sweet angel baby, so please do tell me if you like it! it will make my life!
