Summary:

Nick and Charlie find themselves somewhere Charlie never thought he'd be again...
Notes:

Sorry for the delay. Honestly I just don't love this story and so I lost the mojo to finish it (plus our two favourite idiots just weren't cooperating with the talking thing). But I've finished and now may have a plot bunny for ch4 🤣

Serious massive thank you to Erin and Gamma for encouragement, support and all round amazing betaing.

Chapter Text
Charlie watched as Sai practically dragged a confused looking Nick through a door on the opposite side of the kitchen with an unsympathetic grin, before turning around to add a little vodka to his too-sweet lemonade.

He hadn't even managed to locate a non-empty bottle when he found himself surrounded on all sides by his friends.

He took one look at their faces and couldn't stifle the groan that formed on his lips.

"What?!" Charlie whined. "What now?"

Elle and Darcy exchanged a wide-eyed look and then squealed, while Tara smirked suspiciously, Tao crossed his arms and looked greatly put out, and Isaac smiled widely at him.

No one answered him, so he sighed heavily and went back to the empty glass bottles littering the worktop in search of booze. Any booze.

No one spoke as Charlie finally located the smallest drop of Tesco White Rum. He shrugged and added what was left in the bottle to his cup. When he looked back up, all five were still looking at him oddly.

"What?!" he repeated, exasperated. He started to turn towards the door on the other side of the room to see if he could spot Nick on his way back; not that he needed Nick to save him, but the fact that even Tao was now looking at him strangely was making him feel unnerved.

Before he could turn around though, Elle suddenly grabbed him by the arm and pulled him in for a hug.

"Uh... hi?" he mumbled into her hair.

She swayed back and forth with Charlie pinned to her chest. "Hi!"

Charlie frowned but let his friend rock them for a moment. Just as suddenly as she gripped him, Elle let go and spun him round. "Right, come with us."

Next to him Darcy squealed and bounced up and down.

"I'm waiting for Ni—"

"Yes, yes. You're waiting for Nick. Well, we're taking you to him!" Elle grasped hold of both his arms from behind and started pushing him forward.

"Elle! What are—"

"Hang on!" Tara appeared in front of him, grinning widely and looking on the verge of bursting into a fit of laughter. "Drink, leave it here."

The birthday girl attempted to take his drink, but Charlie held it close to his chest and shook his head. "I've just made this!"

Tara giggled, snatched the cup with surprising force, and then downed the contents in one. Still grinning, Tara held the now empty cup out to Darcy who took it and threw it blindly behind her.

"Delicious. Thanks Charlie. Now, come on... Nick will be waiting!" She giggled as she grabbed his hand and started pulling him towards the door Nick had disappeared through a few minutes earlier.

Elle gently pushed him forward with a hand on his back, and Darcy cackled maniacally as she skipped around them like a witch dancing around her cauldron.

Charlie looked behind him to see a straight faced Tao and a beaming Isaac following.

"For the record, this has absolutely nothing to do with me," Tao said in a bored tone.
