Chapter 9 - OOTP

Katherine was bouncing in her seat; she was excited because she got to see George. It always felt like the weeks in between were getting longer however the reality is that they haven't. She glanced up at the clock, any minute now George was going to walk though that door. Katherine stared at the door, when finally it opened revealing George, she bolted out of he chair and dived on him.

"I've missed you so much Georgie" Katherine muttered into his neck.

"I've missed you too my love, so much" George muttered back. They stayed in that position for a while, neither one of them wanting to move until someone cleared their throat behind them.

"Sorry kids, this is cute and everything, but I want coffee" Lupin said politely with a hint of a smile on his face, Sirius however was howling with laughter behind Lupin.

"Sorry dad, come on Georgie" Katherine said pulling her boyfriend with her back into the dining room, they both took a seat as George began filling Katherine in with everything she had missed. She watched how his whole face lit up whenever he was telling her about the pranks him and Fed had pulled, or how his eyebrows pinched together when he mentioned Harry. However the one thing he failed to mention was this defence group they had created. "So you've been having fun then?" Katherine asked innocently.

"Yeah KitKat, it's not the same without you though" George said whilst placing a bit of hair behind Katherines ear.

"And how is the illegal defence group going" Sirius asked bluntly, ignoring the subtle glare Katherine sent him.

"You guys know about that?" George asked quickly, before quietly realising that yes they did know, and Katherine wasn't pleased.

"A member of the order overheard you guys in the Hogs Head. George, I'm worried about this, if you want to learn all that defensive magic I can teach you, you are allowed to use magic outside of school now so no one will know" Katherine said softly making the boys heart melt.

"I know Kat, but Fred's also doing it, and I cant leave him to fend for himself for five minutes" George laughed, Katherine huffed.

"George if you get caught-" Katherine had started but George placed a finger on her lips.

"We aren't going to babe, we will be fine I promise" George stated, Katherine just sent him a flat look but dropped it as she didn't want to spend her time with him fighting over this.

"Alright, how is everyone?" Katherine asked gently tracing patterns in George's hand.

"They're alright KitKat, ironically this whole defence group was Grangers idea" George snorted, and Katherine was floored.

"Hermione Granger willingly breaking school rules! I never thought id see the day" Katherine laughed. Whilst the situation itself was not funny, the thought of Hermione breaking school rules was.

"Yeah believe me I was shocked too, anyway what have you and Sirius been up to with the house so quiet?" George asked earning a laugh from Sirius and a grumble from Lupin.

"Quiet is not the word I'd use, me and Sirius spend most of our days belting out ABBA and making chocolate cake for dad" Katherine shrugged, "also we have order meetings nearly every night. Me and Sirius also have to watch my dad being wooed by Tonks" Katherine laughed as did Sirius, Lupin however had gone a bright shade of red.

"Tonks is a lovely girl, I'm sure she's just being polite" Lupin said hurriedly which caused Katherine to laugh more.

"No seriously Moony, Tonks likes you!" Sirius cried throwing his hands in the air.

"It's true dad, she really does like you" Katherine said through her laughter.

"Well I only have room for one girl in my life right now, and if she's done laughing at me id like to tell her something that she might like" Lupin said which caused Katherine to sit up straight in her chair.

"What?" Katherine asked, eyes wide.

"If you manage to disguise yourself with your abilities, Tonks is going to take you Christmas shopping" Lupin said causing Katherine to get excited.

"Really? I mean I know it's only like November, but I haven't been out of the house since I got here!" Katherine practically yelled. The three men laughed at this small girl who was bouncing around the kitchen.

"Yes but you need to practice as she wants to take you next week" Lupin said seriously, causing Katherine to roll her eyes and change her hair and eye colour instantly, and she made herself a little bit taller just to prove a point. "Never mind, I will let her know" Lupin said rushing off to go and mail Tonks. Sirius followed not so long after leaving the two teenagers alone, Katherine wasted no time climbing onto George's lap and peppering his face with kisses before she pressed a slow one to his lips.

"I really have missed you Georgie" Katherine whispered.

"I've missed you too KitKat" George whispered back before kissing her again. When they pulled away Kat curled up into him again.

"These weeks feel like they're getting longer" Katherine whined.

"They aren't little love, but believe me sometimes it feels like it to me also" George cooed before kissing her head.

Katherine had just said goodbye to George, he had to go back to school. Him leaving was becoming harder for Katherine to deal with, when he had left Katherine sulked back to the dining room and took her seat between her dad and uncle. She stared into space for a minute before she dissolved into sobs, both of the adults wrapped their arms around he small girl and held her.

"It will be alright little one, don't worry" Sirius said trying to soothe her.

"He will be back before you know it" Lupin promised. Katherine nodded sniffling a little.

"I know, I'm sorry it's just hard letting him leave" Katherine whispered whilst wiping her tear-stained cheeks.

"We know little one, we know. It won't be long before you don't have to say goodbye to him again if you don't want to" Sirius cooed gently rubbing her back.

"Now should I tell you about the conversation I've had with Harry through the fireplace?" Sirius asked earning groans from the other two.

"Uncle Siri you were told to stop popping up in the fireplace!" Katherine cried. She didn't want he uncle to get caught.

"I know that old hag almost caught me, managed to get away but I don't think I'll be popping up in the fireplace any time soon" Sirius said gruffly, he crossed his arms over his chest and sat back in his chair.

"That is not a bad thing Sirius, I know you and James were always the risk takers, but please think about Katherine and Harry. I know for a fact Katherine would be devastated if you got sent back to Azkaban" Lupin stressed. He didn't want Katherine to get caught in the crossfire, which she most certainly would, and the chances are if she was caught with Sirius she would also get sent to Azkaban.

"I know Moony, I'm sorry" Sirius said softly, in truth he was worried about Harry, so worried he forgot about the threat that Katherine is stuck in.

"It's alright Pads, just I'm trusting you to take care of her. I cannot lose her" Lupin said squeezing his daughter figures hand.

"You wont lose me dad, neither one of you will" Katherine said defiantly. In truth nothing would keep her from her dad, Uncle Siri or George. They would have to kill her to get to any one of them.

"Anyway, who wants chocolate cake?" Sirius asked causing Katherine and Lupin to race each other to the cake first, Sirius watched the two with a fond smile and hoped he could stay in this moment forever.
