Chapter 13 - OOTP

Sirius's spirits were down now that the date the others returned to Hogwarts started to draw closer, so Katherine and Sirius had already resumed their usual routine. Katherine didn't want to think of it, because she didn't want to think of George leaving her once again, but there was little that she could do. George spent his time with Katherine and Fred, the twins laughing a Katherine and Sirius's antics. They found Kreature in the attic covered in dust, searching through for more Black family relics.

"Kat, are you alright?" Fred asked, he had noticed how her smile didn't quite reach her eyes and how she had started to laugh a little less. Now that she was alone he thought it would e the right time to ask her.

"I will be Freddie, it's just hard being without you and George" Katherine responded quietly whilst continuing her cleaning in the kitchen.

"Kat, listen, me and Georgie will be back before you know it. Georgie cannot function without you, and you are my best friend. We will be home before you know it. I promise" Fred said gently pulling Katherine into a hug. Katherine couldn't stop the tears from falling as she held onto Fred for dear life. George walked into the kitchen and saw his twin and Katherine.

"Make room I'm coming in" George said making Katherine let out a small giggle. The three of them stayed in that hug for a while, none of them saying anything, just enjoying the group hug.

"Are we having a group hug? And I wasn't invited, Katherine Lupin I am wounded" Sirius said in mock hurt, placing his hand over his heart. Katherine grabbed hold of his hand and pulled him into the hug. The four of them laughing as Lupin also joined in.

"Alright we need to move before Molly comes in and shouts at us for being in the kitchen" Sirius said heading back into the dining room, Lupin following close behind.

"I love you Georgie, I love you Freddie" Katherine said leaning he hand on George's shoulder.

"We love you too KitKat" George said back before placing a kiss on the top of her head.

"Now lets go and brainstorm some idea's for the shop" Katherine said before running up to her room.

Katherine walked into the dining room on the last day of the holidays and walked straight into Professor Snape.

"Oh Severus, I do apologise" Katherine said quickly.

"It's alright Katherine, how have you been?" Snape asked, he never had a problem with Katherine, he actually admired the girl and respected her, which meant a lot coming from him.

"I've been better Sev, I'll be glad when all this is over with" Katherine muttered sitting down next to her dad "how are you?" Katherine asked, quietly thanking Molly for the cup of coffee that had been placed in front of her.

"I am doing well. I've also brought you a couple of potions to deal with a hangover. I've heard about the bad influence Sirius has been having on you" Severus said before handing the potions across to Katherine who had let out a laugh.

"That is very kind of you Severus. Uncle Siri is indeed a very bad influence" Katherine laughed again as Harry walked into the room.

"Sit down, Potter" Snape said as Harry looked between Snape and Sirius.

"You know, I think I'd prefer it if you didn't give orders here, Snape. It is my house, you see" Sirius said whilst staring at the ceiling, leaning back on two chair legs. Katherine however didn't agree with his disrespect, whilst she accepted they disliked each other she would not stand for disrespect of any kind, so Katherine kicked the leg of Sirius's chair and sent him tumbling to the floor.

"Sirius Black, everyone knows that you and Severus dislike each other but there is no need to be disrespectful" Katherine said sternly, staring down at the man on the floor.

"Fine sorry Kat" Sirius mumbled, Katherine helped him up and gestured for Severus to continue.

"The headmaster has sent me to tell you, Potter, that he wishes for you to study Occlumency this term" Severus said addressing Harry.

"Study what?" Harry asked.

"Occlumency, the magical defence of the mind against external penetration. An obscure branch of magic, but a useful one" Snape replied in a bored tone.

"And why do I have to study it?" Harry asked again.

"Because Dumbledore thinks it's a good idea Harry" Katherine replied gently, whilst her dislike for the boy hasn't gone anyway, she didn't want him to be defenceless.

"You will have private lessons once a week, but you will not tell anyone what you are doing, least of all Dolores Umbridge. You understand?" Snape asked looking directly at Harry.

"Yes. Who's going to be teaching me?" Harry asked as he looked to the adults in the room.

"I am" Snape said.

"Why cant Dumbledore teach Harry? Why you?" Sirius snapped.

"Because Uncle Siri, Severus is a master a Occlumency and Legilimency. Dumbledore trusts that he is the right person for the job" Katherine snapped. She was tired of the constant bickering between Sirius and Severus every time they were in the same room. She rubbed her forehead as the two began bickering again. She looked up and caught Harry's eye and flashed him a tight smile. Finally having enough of the bickering between Sirius and Severus she finally snapped.

"That is enough! Severus thank you for coming, it was lovely to see you again. Uncle Sirius, sit down and shut up!" Katherine snapped at the pair, they both looked at her before Severus bid goodnight and left. Sirius sat down and grabbed Katherines hand.

"I'm sorry Kat, I know you don't like it when people start arguing" Sirius said softly causing Katherine to sigh.

"It's quite alright Uncle Siri, but Severus really is only trying to help" Katherine said softly, giving Sirius a small smile.

"You are too good for us Katherine Lupin; I hope you know that" Sirius replied pulling his adopted niece into a hug.

"Of course she is. Without Katherine all of us would be lost" Lupin said as he smiled down at his daughter. At that moment Fred and George walked into the room and started telling Katherine all about their new products. Lupin and Sirius watched as she matched the twins excitement. The three of them were a force to be reckoned with and once the twins left school the three would definitely become inseparable.
