Chapter 7 - HBP

It had been a few weeks since the incident with George, all the kids had gone back to school and Katherine had celebrated her 19th birthday. Things had been quiet which everyone knew wasn't a good thing. Katherine currently was sitting in her bedroom staring into space. With the shop becoming quiet George had been spending more time with Katherine but they seemed to be arguing more frequently. Katherine never took it personally; she knew George was stressed but she couldn't help but feel down about it. A knock on her door made her come back to the present as she smiled at her dad whose head was poking around her door.

"How you doing little one?" Lupin asked moving to sit at the end of her bed.

"I'm alright dad, just a little stressed out recently that's all" Katherine replied sitting up.

"Good, I just wanted to let you know George asked if you could head over to the flat, he's downstairs waiting for you" Lupin said patting her knee before she bounced off the bed and threw he shoes on. Katherine ran down the stairs and jumped on George's back who in turn chuckled at he antics.

"Hello little love, are you ready to go?" George asked as Katherine climbed off his back and moved to stand beside him.

"I am Georgie" Katherine replied before hugging everyone goodbye stating she would see them tomorrow. Katherine and George disappeared with a crack before landing in the living room of the flat.

"Hey Kat" Fred said coming over and pulling his best friend into a hug.

"Hey Freddie" Katherine replied before her eyes landed on the girl in the living room, she had short blonde hair with soft blue eyes. "Hi, I'm Katherine" Katherine greeted the stranger, who in turn just rolled her eyes and looked at George.

"Georgie, Fred was cheating at chess" the girl pouted causing George to laugh. The way she had ignored Katherine rubbed her the wrong way, but not as much as the way she whined when addressing George.

"I'm not surprised, anyway little love, this is Verity" George said sitting down at the side of Verity.

"It's nice to meet you Verity" Katherine responded politely, only to be ignored again.

"Is this the friend of yours you were telling me about?" Verity asked, trying to seem innocent which caused both Fred and Katherine to roll their eyes.

"I'm his girlfriend" Katherine stated bluntly, which caused Verity to laugh.

"No, your Fred's girlfriend, that's what George said" Verity replied tilting her head slightly. The tension in the room was suffocating as Katherines eyes turned cold, her glare turning hard.

"Really? That's what George told you?" Katherine spat out, looking to George who had visibly paled and started shaking his head.

"No I didn't Verity, I told you Katherine is my girlfriend" George insisted stating to panic.

"No you said she was Fred's girlfriend, Fred backed you up" Verity said again causing Katherine to look at Fred who refused to meet her eye. "Look I'm going to go, obviously you three have something you need to work out" Verity said quietly before leaving. The Silence in the room was deafening.

"Would someone explain to me what is going on?" Katherine asked in a very calm voice, which scared the twins even more. When neither one of them spoke Katherine spoke again, "someone explain or I'm walking out of that door, and I won't come back" she ground out. This seems to have gotten through to the twins who both stood at the same time.

"Look, it isn't what it sounds like Kat I promise" George started which caused Fred to scoff.

"Fred, do you have something to say?" Katherine asked looking at the person who was supposed to be her best friend.
