Chapter 9 - HBP

The next morning Katherine came down the stairs with George behind her, after having a conversation they had decided until George could earn her trust back that they wouldn't jump straight back into a relationship. As they walked into the dining room the room fell silent. Rolling her eyes Katherine sat next to her dad trying to ignore the stares that she was getting.

"Why were you with George?" Harry asked, his eyes flicking between the two.

"We just came down the stairs together that's all Harry" Katherine replied in an indifferent tone which cause Fred to scoff and playfully narrow his eyes at her.

"Yeah right he stayed in her room last night" Fred sniggered, this statement caused chaos to erupt, and Katherine let out a hefty sigh. Once everyone had died down she decided to speak.

"And the elephant in the room lets out an almighty roar. Bloody hell Fred, thanks for this" Katherine grumbled, "no we are not back together, we talked some things out" Katherine then grumbled again.

"Embers why did you have a boy in your room in the first place" James gasped dramatically causing her to bang her head on the table.

"Bloody hell there two of them. Dad how did you cope at school with these drama queens" Katherine asked her dad, who in turn just laughed and shook his head.

"Anyway can we move on to the next topic please" Katherine asked loudly; however it seems James wasn't done.

"Now don't be going and having sex and if you do you need to be safe" James stated seriously causing Katherine to slap her hand over his mouth.

"Merlin Uncle Prongs, I had to have that talk with my dad at 6am I do not need to hear it again" Katherine hissed causing James to nod his head, when Katherine was sure he wouldn't talk about it again she removed her hand.

"Anyway Kat I was wondering if you fancied a game of wizards chess in the drawing room?" Harry asked causing Katherine to nod and run out the room. Harry followed behind her laughing. Sitting down on the couches they set up the chess on the coffee table.

"So how much did Dumbledore and your parents tell you after I went to bed last night?" Katherine asked making her first move in chess.

"Everything, about how had you fought for me to be told earlier, how Dumbledore basically demanded you wait. I'm angry at him for making you keep it a secret, he should never have put you in that position" Harry replied before making his counter move. Katherine made her next move taking Harry's pawn.

"I was furious. I am glad you know now. I'm glad I was able to do this for you. Your basically my little brother at this point" Katherine said with a cheeky grin causing Harry to laugh.

"Yeah well as your little brother, what did you say to George last night. The blokes been a walking corpse recently" Harry commented.

"Told him that in order to win me back he has to earn my trust. I wont get back into a relationship until I trust him" Katherine shrugged.

"Good. I'm glad we're friends again Kat. We haven't really spoke since that day in the Ministry but I'm really glad I have you back" Harry said with a smile.

"Me too Harry. Also checkmate" Katherine said with a cheeky grin before rushing out the room, Harry hot on her heels demanding to know how she won.

Soon enough the holiday ended, and the burrow was almost complete. Katherine was saying her goodbyes as everyone filed out the door, the twins having already left early that morning. Katherine was tackled into a hug by Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny.

"We're going to miss you so much" Ginny said as Katherine laughed.

"I'm going to miss you guys too, but I will see you soon. Love you guys!" Katherine hollered out the door, just before the door closed Harry rushed back inside and hugged her again.

"Love you Kat" Harry whispered.

"I love you too little brother" Katherine replied before he rushed out the door and back to school. Turning around she looked at the adults, "well it's just us gobshites now" Katherine said causing Sirius to laugh.

"Hey I'm not a gobshite!" James called after Katherine who wrapped her arm around her dads waist after he had thrown his arm around her shoulder.

"You are the biggest gobshite of them all Uncle Prongs" Katherine replied. "Anyway did Harry tell you about Snape and the unbreakable vow. Also his suspicions of Draco Malfoy trying to kill off Albus" Katherine said popping a grape into hear mouth from the fruit bowl she had grabbed.

"Yeah, we told him to trust Dumbledore. If Dumbledore trusts Snape, we need to" Her dad said looking at the rest.

"I don't trust Dumbledore" Katherine said causing the adults to look at her.

"Why?" Sirius asked.

"Remember during the tournament, I ended up with Poppy because of the warnings I was receiving due to the death eaters being in school? Yeah well Dumbledore wants to use me as a weapon. To unleash me when the time is right for him. Think about it guys, the only reason Dumbledore is keeping me close is because I'm dangerous, especially in the wrong hands, and he knows you lot will do anything and everything to protect me and Harry. His most valuable players are the most protected people in the wizarding world, and no one even realises it" Katherine said, she remained silent as she watched the realisation dawn on each and every one of them.

"Bloody hell she's right" Sirius muttered.

"This is why I'm always watching him. I know the moves he's made and from there I know the moves he will play. It's all one giant game of chess. It's good versus evil" Katherine said popping another grape into her mouth.

"He's good I'll give him that" Lily mumbled.

"Maybe Aunt Lily, but I'm better" Katherine replied with a wicked grin.

"So about you and George-" James started causing Katherine to shoot him a glare.

"We aren't back together let alone shaggin' Uncle Prongs. I told him he needed to earn my trust before I would even entertain the idea of getting back together with him" Katherine said quickly, giggling as James slapped his hands over his ears at that word. "Do you guys believe Draco will do it?" Katherine asked quietly.

"Honestly?" Sirius asked, Katherine nodded in reply. "Yeah I think if he's given the chance to, he will" Sirius said solemnly.

"My heart goes out to him. They are just children; they shouldn't be risking their lives over this" Katherine said looking down at her hands.

"No they shouldn't Kat, I agree. You do know that they will get through this and win though, don't you?" Lupin said, causing his daughter to look up.

"How? We can barely get through the day" Katherine responded quietly.

"Because they have you on their team" Lupin responded stealing a grape causing Katherine to gasp and throw a piece of apple at him.
