Chapter 4 - HBP

Katherine was sat in her bedroom window staring into space, her body was still recovering from the events of yesterday and she felt both physically and emotionally drained. Don't get her wrong she doesn't regret bringing Lily and James back, it was an honour to do so but she is now completely exhausted. As soon as the five of them got back to Grimmauld Place she went straight to bed, as did the rest of them. It was around noon now and she was the only one awake, so she decided to go down to the kitchen and make herself a coffee before starting on lunch. With a sigh leaving her lips she walked into the kitchen and poured her coffee before going to her usual seat at the table, Dumbledore was stopping by today to see if she was successful, but she got a weird feeling about it. When she had brought up to Dumbledore about telling Harry the headmaster was quick to agree but Katherine had seen the hesitation in his eyes, and it has her worrying that he doesn't want Harry to know.

"You alright Embers?" James asked sliding into the seat beside her, she had been so deep in thought she hadn't noticed him come in.

"Yeah, just deep in thought I guess. All my worries are resurfacing now that I've managed the impossible bringing you and Lily back." Katherine commented quietly.

"What worries?" James asked, his eyebrows furrowing as he studied the girl next to him.

"When I had mentioned to Dumbledore the other day about waiting for a little to tell Harry, you know just so I could make sure the spell definitely worked, he seemed hesitant about something" Katherine thought aloud.

"Did he? I didn't notice to be honest Embers. Is there anyway you misread it?" James asked curiously, whilst he knows what she can do, even the smartest people can misinterpret something.

"It is possible, but unlikely. Elise, my siren, she can spot things like that a mile away, and living with the death eaters I unfortunately was born into, I learned pretty young how to spot lies and hesitation. My parents used me a lot to try and figure out where their friends stood in regards to that no nosed git" Katherine said sadly. She didn't like talking about her parents, anyone could see that. James felt bad for the girl and remembered when he watched Sirius go through a similar thing with his parents. "I'll find out later when Albus comes over" Katherine said with a small smile, she wasn't going to let it bother her to much, just then Lupin, Sirius and Lily all walked into the room.

"Morning Kathy, morning James" Lily said coming around to press a kiss to Katherines head before kissing James.

"Morning Aunt Lily. I was just about to start lunch, so why don't you grab yourself a tea, sit down and relax for a bit" Katherine said with a smile, she knew Lily was going to refuse but she offered anyway.

"Not a chance, I'm helping. Besides these three eat like a bunch of animals" Lily said, giggling at the protests that sounded behind her. Katherine laughed before heading into the kitchen with Lily close behind. "So I heard your conversation with James, and I agree with you. I could tell he was hesitant about something also" Lily said quietly.

"I knew I was right. I'm not sure what Albus is up to but I'm going to find out. It's going to be hectic today, we have an order meeting tonight. It was supposed to be tomorrow night, but Albus wanted to rush it through. The only person who wont be in attendance is Severus and that's because no one trusts him not to freak out" Katherine giggled at the thought of Snape freaking out but knew that it was for the best.

"Yeah its probably not a good idea he comes. James will hex him for the fact that he did actually get me and James killed and the fact he almost got Harry killed" Lily said sadly.

"You used to be friends didn't you?" Katherine asked whilst putting the bacon in the frying pan.

"Yeah, we were until he called me a mudblood. That ended our friendship pretty quickly" Lily said with a sigh, Katherine gave Lily a hug sensing she needed one.
