Isabel Rivers never really had a safe place to land. That was before she met queen bee Alison DiLaurentis. She was Ali's favorite. They also had four other friends. It was the perfect group.
Right until Ali went missing one summer.

Isabel was once again in the morgue, as Hanna had stolen one of Ali's diaries. Isabel had decided against showing them the diary she stole, as there were some... personal things in there.
"I don't understand. I- I don't recognize any of these names," Isabel frowned as she flipped through the pages.
"Because she changed them," Hanna explained. "She was changing stories, too. You just have to know the real stories in order to recognize the fake ones."
"Sounds like Ali. The truth bored her," Emily said curtly.
"So it's like creative non-fiction with pseudonyms?" Isabel asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know what that means, but sure," Hanna shrugged.
"Hanna, I can't believe that you held onto this since Ravenswood," Aria scoffed as Isabel gave the diary to Spencer.
"Yeah, we knew that Ali had journals. What's so bad about this one?" Spencer added.
"Because the stories in there, they're... they're personal," Hanna stuttered.
"Personal about Ali?" Spencer pressed.
"About Ali and us," Hanna shrugged with a sigh. "There are things in there that we may not know about each other, and things from the past that we want to forget."
"So you thought you should get to read it, and we don't?" Emily huffed. Isabel was silent. With each passing moment, she felt worse about keeping Ali's main diary to herself.
"I just didn't see the point of bringing all that up again," Hanna snapped. "We're supposed to be focused on finding Ali."
"That's not your call to make," Spencer argued.
"I know," Hanna yelled, glancing back at Isabel. "I made a mistake!"
"And it took you till now to realize that?" Emily shot back.
"Em, I said I was sorry!" Hanna shouted.
"Did you?" Spencer retorted skeptically.
"Okay! Guys..." Isabel said hastily, looking between them.
"All right. The most important thing is that we have this now," Aria finally agreed.
"Okay, Hanna, you said that there are stories in here about Ali," Isabel stated, taking it from Spencer again.
"What about 'Board Shorts' or someone else who might have been after her?" Aria added.
"There might be. I don't know," Hanna shrugged. "I just couldn't put all the pieces together on my own."
"So this is what we do. We each take turns, we'll weed out the stories about us and see what's left over," Emily explained, looking at all of them.
