Pirate 1.2 : Run and Find

When the water hit me, I felt my tail appear and dove as deep as I could. Nonetheless, I was in unknown territory. I didn't recognize the water around me. Using a sharp coral, I managed to take off the ties around my hand. And then the gag.

I took a deep breath of relief as I sat on the ocean's floor. The sea was not that deep yet, because I could still see the ships above. I watched them silently for a few minutes until the Red Hawk ship began to burn. They had set it on fire. I began swimming away, when I heard the sound of a body falling inside the water. I looked up.

Yeosang.

How did he fall into the water?

Unconsciously, I swam up towards him. I stood at a distance, but he looked unconscious. I bite my lips anxiously. If I left him here, I knew I would feel bad. He could be from Black Devil, but he didn't hurt me. I swam closer to him, but I didn't realize how close we were from the surface. Fortunately, I noticed the net right away. I dodged it in extremis.

"Pirates." I gritted as I turned away and began swimming away in a hurry. I had to use the current to my advantage, to take me the furthest away from them.

However, the ship was following me. I noticed it right away. I decided to swim further to the bottom of the ocean and sat inside of a cavern. I could sleep there for the night. No humans would dive that far down.

A few hours later, I woke up fishes tickling me. Fish and Mermaids were living together harmoniously. It wasn't the same with sharks or sea monsters, but I never had major problems with either. Whales were also really nice most of the time. I liked orcas the least. Jerks that thought we were food. I noticed that the ship was still there.

"How are you so persistent?" I wondered as I began swimming away.

I needed to take a look around. I couldn't sense any mermaids near, meaning that I was not in any tribes' territory. I wasn't anywhere near mine either. I had no idea towards which direction we sailed. I had to go back towards the city. My brother usually was always with me. Taehyung...

"Alina." I heard a voice but it was my name from the surface. Mermaids could hear exceptionally well. "Come up. Don't make us chase you down. You had enough fun." Hongjoong's voice resonated but how could he...

I didn't understand his logic. Even if he was half-mermaid, he couldn't swim that long under the water or even catch me could he? Mermaids were much faster underwater.

"If we catch you, you're never getting out of that cell again." I could hear his anger "Go San."

I blinked when I saw San diving down. Then I noticed something in his hand and I turned away. It was a harpoon. A sharp one. And San was fast.

I swam further down the ocean as soon as I could and hid between the rocks. He couldn't dive down that long. He was human after all. He reached the bottom of the ocean where I was in seconds. It was terrifying for a human. I never saw one that fast.

His eyes locked with mine.

"Go back on your ship and go away." I used my mermaid's voice.

It didn't work. I knew it right away.

I swam further down and slid between the different rocks. He couldn't catch me. That's what I wanted to believe. I could not let him catch me. And after a few minutes, I heard him going back up. He had held his breath for about 9 minutes. It was a very long time for a human.

"She hid between the rocks. Could not reach her." I hear bribes of conversation.

"Do I really need to go down myself?" Hongjoong's anger was clear.
