"Cha." I call out the doctor who is eating breakfast.

We've been to the city center and it was the hell of a ride. I almost fainted four or five times. Since then, I took walks every day. To get used back to normal life. I was always one to adapt quickly to different situations, but it didn't mean that it was easy.

It had been five days since I got out of the hospital. Thanks to Verity, I was slowly getting used to who I had become. I also learned to control my scent. Apparently, because hybrids couldn't smell their own scent, I smelled very sweet. Like a peach. An oversweet peach. Cha revealed that predators found this scent very attractive and Verity had glared at him. Claiming that I would be safer with her. She smelled like the fresh morning, a very calming scent. Contrasting severally with Cha's burnt scent.

"What is it El?" He asked as he put his mug down.

Since earlier in the morning, I was feeling tingly allover. Verity was already here, but I felt really weird. I bit my lips.

"I feel weird. Like it tingles." I reveal "And my bones keep cracking this morning."

The sound of a mug breaking gets my attention as Verity stares at me. A grave expression on her face.

"You're going to shift." Cha explains.

"I often saw my brothers shift, why is it so much of a shock?" I frown remembering panthers, snakes and wolves spread out in the living room.

"Shifting into your animal homologue is never painful, except the first time. Usually as children, the pain isn't as strong. However, you never shifted Elana." Verity explains "It's going to hurt. I'm not going to lie to you, it's going to feel terrible."

"Then I can just not do it right?" I frown feeling apprehension raise in me.

"It's not something you can hold back. Hybrids usually shift for half an hour every three days. Sometimes more. Sometimes less." Cha sighs "I will go prepare some water. Verity..." He stares at the sheep hybrid.

"I will stay with her the whole time." The sheep hybrid promises.

Her serious tone does not reassure me. And I was right to not be reassured.

I'm sweating profusely.

All my articulations are reminding me that they exist.

All my bones are cracking nonstop.

I've been crying for hours. It's been 4 hours since this morning and the shift is happening at an alarming low speed. Awfully painful.

"You need to commit Elana." Verity repeats "You need to let your body go." She doesn't touch me because my skin is extremely sensitive.

For one more time, I focus and close my eyes. And I let all the tension go in me. I completely give up the control and when I open my eyes, the world...looks bigger. I stare around slowly.

"Oh my...You did it." Verity looks like a giant and I stumble back.

I look down to see four feeble whitish legs trembling to stay up. Verity takes so many pictures as I finally manage to stand on my two-four paws-legs-anyway. I take small steps, stumble and fall. Verity is very encouraging and I never could have imagined that it was so hard to be on four legs. Scent are much stronger also. I bump my head against the door. His burnt smell on the other side of the door.

"Alright, alright." Verity chuckles.

Cha is already crouching down and he smiles. I can feel that he is more dangerous than Verity, but I'm not scared. The only consistent scent that I had with me for the last few days was his. I bump against the palm of his head and he chuckles.
