"What?"

I stare at my father. I didn't hear him well. For sure.

"No you heard me quite well Hazel. You are going to attend the Mate Ceremony." He walks around his desk and sits on it.

My father is the Beta of the Blue Moon pack. Meaning that he holds a lot of power and has a lot of influence on the Alpha leading Blue Moon which is none other than Alpha Scott. A motherfreaking bastard if you'll ask me, just like his son and daughter.

"He always prevented me to attend so why now?" I sigh running a hand through my black hair.

My black hair are lightly curled, just like a day spent at the beach and a bit more than shoulder length. My father's blue eyes reflect my purple ones as silence settles in.

"It's more than time for you to get a mate." He sighs.

"There are none other Omegas in this pack dad! He needs me." You scream at him and his eyes flash at me sign that I need to watch my tone.

"I can't exactly read his mind Hazel." He growls lowly obviously annoyed by the disrespect.

"He wants me to get ridiculed, that's all he wants." I say unconsciously bowing my head.

That's what annoyed me the most with ranks. Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas and finally Omegas: from the strongest to the weakest. The Moon Goddess had fortunately helped the weakest by giving them a gift. At least it was the case for me. I could recognize herbs, knowing by instinct their properties. Moreover, I could heal people. It seems casual like that, but while the gift of recognizing plants was common, the Heal was a real rarity. I knew no other Omega that had the same. Again, there weren't a lot of Omegas.

"You'll go." My father stands up and takes a step closer to me "Pack light. You won't be chosen anyway."

I clench and unclench my fist. It is true. Omegas, even though gifted, weren't liked for their weakness. Mostly women, they wouldn't be chosen during the ceremony and would suffer alone. Moreover, unmated Omegas did not leave long. They died quickly. Their only salvation was the Mate Ceremony.

"I don't have a dress for it." You whispered

"The Alpha's daughter lend you one. She's also going this year."

Vicky was a bitch. Which was really typical for Alpha's daughter. She was an Alpha shewolf and enjoyed showing her dominance on others. Especially me since I was the weakest. My own weakness could only be called a burden or an insecurity. The only thing saving my worth was my gift.

"Very well." I whispered "As you wish father."

I close the door of the Beta's office in the pack house and walk outside. I had heard many things about the Mate Ceremony. It was held in the castle of the Werewolf king. There were no kings currently, but it was still kept into shape. The packs had almost all reached for a peace agreement.

"Are you alright?" My mother asked as I stood in front of my room.

"I'm fine." You whisper trying to take control on your emotions.

"It's going to be an opportunity to explore the social world." Your mother puts a hand on your shoulder "Maybe you'll get a mate."

I want to slap her hand away and to scream at her. Nobody wants an Omega. That's what I was always told and that is the truth that I'm living with. A truth anchored into my mind and body. I walk towards my bed where a turtleneck dress in laying. It's hiding every single spot on my body and the reddish color is definitely showing how hold it is. No decorations or anything.
