Arlan is a city where humans and hybrids are living as equal people.

Some people live on their own and own hybrids or hybrids also live on their own. The thing is if hybrids are orphans or abandoned they must have an owner, a human generally until they are 18 years old for male and 20 years old for female.

Of course, discrimination exist especially against hybrids since they are outnumbered. The underground market also really appreciates hybrids. Hybrids have a scent, have packs and pack mates: normal people envy that as it's rare for large group of human being to get along with each other. For fairness, only 8 people can form a pack.

Currently, I'm in school: a mixed school. I'm 19 years old and live in the dorms of the school. The shelter I was from got some kind of arrangement with the school and they were very gentle to keep me here.

I get some food and work part time in a cafe that is just facing the school. I'm a white doe hybrid: a prey hybrid.

My scent is very particular: I smell like warm hot chocolate in winter and like fresh orange ad in summer. My scent changes. My eyes are dark blue with purple traces. I'm a rare breed. I don't know if that truly is a good thing, but well.

I study here in Floyd High School where both hybrids and humans are allowed to study. There are some discrimination and the hierarchy is clear between hybrids: yet no hybrids let human bully them.

Predator defend preys and that was always nice. It was a nice atmosphere.

I was one of the rare hybrid who had more human friends than hybrid friend. I was the only white doe hybrid and even the sole doe hybrid in the whole school. I never saw another doe like me even working at the cafe that was quite popular. I was lucky to never have been caught by an underground slave trader or just a fetishist or something like that.

Fortunately, the people in my class were really nice. Anais was a very feisty friend of mine and Louis was basically taking care of me. Even though, they were both human, they weren't mean or anything.

As said the people of my class were globally really nice. Simon, a cat hybrid and Darius a lion hybrid were also good friends and we often studied together.

The teachers didn't have the exact same speech. Most teachers were humans and made it well known to the hybrids. Monsters, Leech, Weirdos all sort of nicknames had been chosen by humans for us.

Teachers also loved calling us by our animal names. I personally didn't mind it too much, but for the several cat hybrids in my class it was quite annoying.

"Doe! Pay attention!" Miss Simmer yelled hurting my ears

My ears slumped down at her loud cry and she smiled evilly. She considered hybrids as monsters or anomalies and it didn't help that she was teaching my worst ever subject math. Louis patted my head gently and a few growls resonated in the class.

"Stop growling at me or I'll report you to the headmaster!" She screamed hitting her table loudly

Several hybrids whined and I put my hands on my ears.

"I'm sorry Miss, I'll pay more attention to the class" I said in a whisper as spiked of several scents were starting to make themselves known.

Every hybrid looked at me and I smiled reassuringly. Elena, a cheetah hybrid, who was quite nice, grumbled a curse word at the teacher I didn't quite catch but it seemed to calm everyone down.

"You better, doe" The teacher grumbled before turning around

The lesson continued for a while, before Darius who was seating right behind me tapped my shoulder.
