Hybrid 15.6 : Endangered Engagement

"Morning!" I wished Doctor Cha.

"So upright in the morning!" Cha chuckled. "Your scans are clean. You can go back home."

It had been four days in the hospital. I was feeling deeply better. Cha told me he wrapped my heart in a blanket and healed it. Very childish to say, but the risk of getting another attack were close to zero. During the whole time I was at the hospital, Hoseok stayed with me. It was awkward, but I was also grateful not to be alone.

He had been kind.

And he was still kind.

He packed my clothes as I waited for him. I hadn't asked him too. He asked me to sit on the bed and wait for him. Without any animosity.

"Hoseok." I called out.

"Mmh?" He turned his head towards me. That light smile had adorned his lips for the last four days. And I couldn't see where the trick was.

"Why are you nice?" I blurt out. His expression dampens slightly. He comes closer and kneels in front of me. I try to help him up, a bit scared of the situation. Was he about to die or something?

"I want to apologize for the attitude I had with you." He looks straight at me. His sincerity...I can feel it through the bond. "As you know, we are survivors of Anatolia. We experienced hell on earth, because of the human scientist there. Our hatred spread widely to all humans. To us, you were all the same wicked species. However, I realized that you weren't responsible for what happened in Anatolia." He grabs my hand and holds it with mine "Your generation is innocent. You are innocent and did not deserve such hatred. From now on, I will take care of you. Like a mate should."

"Why...now?" I whisper as I tighten my grip on his. I don't trust him. I want it so bad to be true. However, this hateful look he gave me, they all gave me, on the first day we met was graved in my mind.

"It looks like you need to go by death's door to get me to realize things." He chuckles. But there's a deep regret in his eyes "You called Joshua, and he dismissed it. He didn't believe you. "That snow panther?" I look at Hoseok shocked.

I turn to look at Jimin who is leaning against the door frame. He also had come during these four days. Every evening at the same time, he came with dinner. The meal was silent on the first day, also on the second day and then finally he started to talk on the third day. Jimin was weirdly nice. We hadn't spoke all that much. He only asked me one question on the day of the conference. I smile as I see him.

"Morning Jimin." I smile softly.

Jimin feels his heart miss a beat. She is beautiful. She pulls Hoseok behind her as she stands in front of his frozen self. Smiling softly. And she is human. Jimin feels his heart hammer in his chest. It doesn't matter that she is humans. He knows it. His mate. That's what she is. He opens his arms. The surprise is clear in her eyes as she stiffens slightly. None of the hybrids say a thing. Until she takes a brave step forward.
