JO
He is still singing on the stage, with the angel voice of my dreams. Dirty Diana by Michael Jackson was playing when I arrived. He sings it so well.
The song ends.
A waitress comes by to offer me a drink as I walk towards the stage.
I don't know what it is, but it's strong. I drink it down and take another glass in my hand. There was not enough in one glass. The waitress winces and walks away.
I finally managed to reach the bottom of the stage, at the far right of the room. I lean on the tiny barriers separating me from him, so I'll be held back when he'll start singing again.
He performed an old song he wrote called "Rolling Stones", talking about drug addiction. It was raw, true and emotional, I liked it.
When he had almost finished it, he saw me in the crowd.
I smile at him while shaking my arms in the air like a fan. He smiles back, even laugh while he's singing the last verse.
The applauds end and Erin speaks through the mic :
- The next one is yours, Angel. Enjoy.
I yelled hysterically, copying the girls in the crowd.
Suddenly, a kids' choir rises through the baffles, similar to me.
I can't hide I love what's happening.
- Remember ? he adds all smile, while looking at me.
The song he was writing the other day. He finished it."Angel, oh, oh, oh, oh
Knew you were special from the moment I saw you
I saw you, yeah
I said angel, oh, oh, oh, oh
I feel you're closer every time I call you
I call you"I sway from one foot to the other, moving my head to the slow rhythm of the music. For the first time, I really listen to the lyrics.
"Cause all I see are wings
I can see your wings
But I know what I am and the life I live
Yeah, the life I live
And even though I sin, we all want to live
But I know time will tell if we're meant for this
Yeah, if we're meant for this..."For the first time, I find possible the fact this song is about us. Deep in me, I always thought of it, as I wanted it to be true.
Now, it is. This story he's telling is also mine."And if we're not,
I hope you'll find somebody..."My chorus.
"I hope you'll find somebody
I hope you'll find somebody
I hope you'll find somebody to love
Somebody to love
Somebody to love"The last words he said before the chorus hit me like a baseball in the face :
"And even though we live inside
A dangerously empty life
You always seem to bring me light,
You always seem to bring me light"I drink my glass with the biggest satisfaction of the world.
He wasn't forced to say all these pretty things about me.
He did it on purpose.
What purpose, exactly ? Who knows, it's Erin.
- I love you, I finally whisper, low, very low.
This is what I should have told Alex, one hour ago.
