Summer:

I then turned to look at Amethyst and Abigail. "You two are coming back with me to the Night Runners Division." I told them, both looking ashamed for what had just happened. "C'mon, let's get a move on."

Then all three of us started heading to the Night Runners.

Amethyst:

When we made it to the territory, we came to a stop and Summer looked at us. "Now, before we enter the Division, we need to talk." She began.

"About what?" Abigail muttered. "About y'all's actions back there, young lady!" She scornfully answered her.

"That's what we need to talk about! What you two did back there was unacceptable and completely uncalled for! Now let me ask you two: Do y'all act like that around your parents?"

Amethyst and Abigail: "No, ma'am."

Summer: "Do y'all act like this in school?"

Amethyst: "Definitely not."

Summer: "Do you both fight like this any other time?"

Amethyst and Abigail: "No, ma'am."

Summer: "And you wanna know why? It's a little something called self-control. That is the reason why y'all don't fight like how you both fought back there. And I'm telling you right now that I do not want to see y'all fighting each other ever again, Only fight the Diablos when we're on that battlefield. Am I making myself clear here?"

Amethyst and Abigail: "Yes, ma'am."

Summer: "And because y'all can't get along, your punishment is as followed: do not argue, insult, or hit one another while you help me with the Night Runners Division. I'll be keeping a close eye on both of you, so do not do anything that'll get both of you in trouble. Instead, talk to each other in a mature way, see if either of you need help and use your manners when you do so. Understood?"

Amethyst: "Yes, ma'am."

Summer: "Abigail?"

Abigail: "Y–Yes, ma'am."

Summer: "All right then. Now, come with me and remember what I told you two."

We then entered the Night Runners Division, ready to get our punishment over and done with.
Now, I will tell you this; while Summer is very strict and stern, she was only looking out for all of us as our parents were not with us and she herself was a responsible adult who wasn't only looking out for us, but she was also our friend –though, she said we weren't friends at first which still confused me– and we were her guide out of the darkness whether she knew it or not.

And so, our day of punishment began and remembering what Summer had told us, we were polite to one another and didn't fight. Only this once!

That same night when the day had ended, Summer came to check on me to see how I was doing. "How are you feeling?" She asked me.

"Ehh, a little tired." I answered. "But other than that, I'm fine."

She then sat down beside me to talk. "You need to know something, Amethyst." She began, her voice and tone was much softer, slower, and calm than it was before.
"Now, I'm not harsh with you, Abigail, and the rest of our friends not because I'm some depressed millennial who does nothing but mope around and day and do nothing…"

"Ooh, so we're friends now, are we?" I replied. "And here I thought you said we weren't friends."

Summer: "Amethyst, that was different. What I'm trying to tell you is that I'm harsh on you because I look like a person who hates children, which is probably what most people may think, but the reason I'm here is to teach y'all from right and wrong. Since your parents aren't here to accompany you girls. Besides, you kids have no idea what lurks in these woods."

Amethyst: "I think by this point in time, we do."

Summer: "Well, what I'm getting at is that I just want you and Abigail to get along with each other. Be actual best friends, not toxic ones. Being toxic to one another is unhealthy and if you continue doing it, well, it's only going to get worse from there. You get what I'm saying?"

Amethyst: "I get it."

Summer: "But remember that everyone has a different religion and we can't really change it."

Amethyst: "All right, Summer, I'll remember that."

Summer: "I know you will. Now, try and get sleep, we've had a long day."

Amethyst: "All right."

As she left, I slowly began to drift off to sleep, remembering all that I heard from that conversation that June night.
