Chapter XXX: Even Worse Condition.

Sadie:

Days had passed by since the whole corruption incident involving me took place, but I had this feeling inside of me, telling me that things weren't over just yet and that there was more that was still to come for all of us and we just didn't know it yet and we would have to find out for ourselves the hard way if so.

And I was one of them when that faithful day came that none of us would ever forget about.

Date: July 30, 2020.

On that day, Scarlett decided to tag along with us to the forest and to the base where we would all spend some time in the base where we usually stayed in if something were to pop up and we had to stay somewhere nearby in the case something did happen.

"So, Sadie, how've things been for you since we last spoke?" Scarlett asked me when we sat down to talk. "Well, after our last conversation, a lot of stuff has happened since then." I began. "And I mean, a lot, too!"

Scarlett: "Well, go ahead and tell me."

Sadie: "To start things off, I'm sure that you may have heard about what happened between Summer and Zachary eighteen days ago; how he just randomly pulled up to her house and demanded that she handed over her family's cancer charity over to him and then went on to gunpoint her when she once again declined the offer and then the two of them gunpointed each until the cops arrived to the scene where he then tried to run away from the police until they tased him, right?"

Scarlett: "Yeah, it was all over the news and was trending on Google as well when I clicked the search bar and hat wasn't necessarily a bad thing on my family's end considering what he did to my mother last month while he was still opposing as a doctor."

Sadie: "Yep, and according to Summer, his trial is scheduled for August 3rd. And it serves him right too after all that he's done!"

Scarlett: "That's true and he had it coming too. What else happened?"

Sadie: "Chief FalconTalon was killed by a group of rogues and CosmoPelt is now the new leader of the Sun Chasers Division as of July 18, 2020."

Scarlett: "Oh, that's horrible to hear."

Sadie: "And in addition to what's been going on, ScarFace has recently been exiled for treason and for the assassination of Chief FalconTalon. Yes, he also played a role in his death too."

Scarlett: "That's just downright horrible. What is wrong with animals and people nowadays? Why do they always find murder as a way to cope with their problems or do it just for fun?"

Sadie: "That's just how the world is these days, there's not really much that you can do about it even if you tried."

Scarlett: "You're right on that one, Sadie."

Sadie: "And there is a lot more that happened that I find hard to keep up with. But there is something that did happen that I want to share with you. And it's just between the two of us, okay?"

Scarlett: "Okay, go ahead and tell me."

Sadie: "All right, well…"

Then I went on to tell her about the corruption situation that had been taken place throughout the course of the entire month of July and the incident involving me along with what had happened with Amethyst. As I telling her the story of what had happened, I could also tell that she looked a bit worried al while listening at the same time and when I finished, she said: "Oh, my God, that's just horrible to know that you all went through all of that. How have you, Jemma, and your friends been since then?"

Sadie: "We're still recovering from those incidents and we know for a fact that some of us have yet to have our own experiences with this dark corruption within us that still lurks, waiting for the right time to strike, but we're doing okay for the most part."

Scarlett: "That's good to know that you're all okay. I'm also glad to know that you're okay and you're still alive. And get this, Sadie, the fact that you, your friends, and your sister are still here is something worth thinking about is you ever look back at this moment because that is what matters: That you all are still here."

During that same conversation, I noticed that she was holding my hand to reassure me on this sort of matter, but I decided to just continue on with the conversation and replied to her by saying: "Thanks…"

"…"

Scarlett: "Is there anything else on your mind, Sadie?"

Sadie: "I just have this… weird feeling, telling me that by the time it's August 1st, my mood will change as well as my life. And I feel that it might even happen tonight."

Scarlett: "Well, what makes you say that?"

Sadie: "I don't really know, but I just have this feeling that's telling me that everything is going to change after tonight. But then again, we don't really know for sure what's going to happen."

Scarlett: "I think it'd be best if we didn't worry about that and just focus on what's going on right now."

Sadie: "Yeah, you're right."

But as it turned out, I was right to suspect that what would happen that very same night would change everything from there.

And here is how all happened…

Date: July 31, 2020.

I remember waking up in the middle of the night feeling a bit off. For what reason? I honestly have no idea why, but I did. I remember getting up from the bed that I was sleeping in that night and I had this urge to just get out of the base, run away from it as far as my legs could carry me and see what would happen from there. In fact, that was exactly what I was going to do and so I quietly opened the door, closed it behind, and began to run away from the base in an attempt to get as far away as I possibly could from it.

Once I managed to run away from the base but not go too far from it, I began to like something was bubbling inside of me; my body and stomach felt off and I began to cough profusely to the point where I coughed up the same black substance as Abigail, Summer, Aurora, and Amethyst did just day before; it was then followed up by me vomiting the same black substance I had hacked up just moments before hand. Then I felt it, the horrible, irritating pain in my back where I then saw my hands turning black as well as my vision followed by the unbearable stabbing pain shooting through my head like an arrow shot by a hunter targetting a caribou for its meat so he could eat and its skin to keep the man warm from the cold that winter brought along with it as well as sickness.

And the rest from there was a blur on my end.

Amethyst:

I had woken up in the middle of the night when the sound of someone screaming in agony came from outside of the base. I sat up from where I was sleeping to looking around where I quickly noticed that Sadie was nowhere to be found. Surely she couldn't have… oh, no, she did leave.

I quickly got up without waking anybody up and left the base without making any sort of loud noise and began to look for Sadie from there.

As I was searching for her, I suddenly came across a puddle of what looked like the black substance that we were already becoming familiar with by this point as many of us had either hacked it up after violent coughing fits or threw up if possible. Sadie must have been here.

"Sadie! Where are you?" I called out. But as before while I was searching for her at the beginning, no answer. Suddenly, I heard rustling coming from the bushes and I kid you not, I could see a moving silhouette dashing pass in the pitch black darkness of the night that looked somewhat like Sadie, but I could did not really know for sure as it was dark. "Sadie, is that you?" I asked. Again, no answer.

I looked around and searched some more where, suddenly out of the darkness, something --or someone-- attacked me from out of nowhere, where I would once again be on the verge of death later that same very night.
