Chapter XVIII: An Unfortunate Demise.

Sadie:

We had all been protecting the forest for over two years now and by that point, we were no strangers to the unknown, or the battle, nor death itself– we were familiar with all of it for we had seen enough of it to know that things like this happened almost all of the time unexpectedly and we would all have to prepar ourselves for whatever would come our way next, even if the next animal was one of us who ended up dying as a direct end result.

And the next part of the story that I am about to tell you holds a memory that I will never forget about: The day when one of the leaders would meet his untimely demise wihout warning.

Date: July 18, 2020.

On that same day,the same mysterious group of rogues once again made another territory mark by leaving claw marks on nearby trees not too away from the Sun Chasers Division and so Chief FalconTalon decided to look into it by himself and come back with the information he collected while he was out. He came up to CosmoPelt, Jemma, and I that same morning and told us: "Sadie, Jemma, CosmoPelt, I have been told that the same mysterious rogues that havebeen responsible for the deaths of our Division members let claw marks on a tree the Sun Chasers and I am going out to investigate it as well as mark it to reclaim it. CosmoPelt, you know what to do when I'm gone, right?"

CosmoPelt: "Yes, sir; take over the leader duties during your time out of the Division until you come back."

Chief FalconTalon: "That's correct. And you, Sadie, Jemma, DuskFire and StormShadow?"

Jemma: "Help CosmoPelt out around the Division while you're gone until you get back from what you're doing."

Chief FalconTalon: "Correct. Now then, I will be heading out, I need to investigate this clawed up tree, claim as our own and then I will roam around near the territory to see if any other area was marked by the same rogues, mark them and then come right back. I'm not planning on being gone for long and I will hopefully be back very soon once I am done. Good bye for now."

CosmoPelt, Sadie, Jemma, DuskFire and StormShadow: "Bye."

And after talking with his family and telling them that he loves them and bidding them goodbye for now, he left and we were all unaware about what was going to happen right afterward.

DuskFire:

It was now late in the afternoon and Chief FalconTalon had returned bacl from his little inspection, which was strange because it was just a simple inspection of claw marks on a tree and remarking it to claim it as the Sun Chasers' territory. Surely he'd be back by now, but he's not. I thought to myself. No, we can't just sit aound and do nothing, hoping that he will come back eventually because something obviously must have happened to him that was preventing him from returning home and whatever it was, we had to rescue him and bring him back home.

"CosmoPelt, orginize one patrol consisting of you, Jemma, me, and a few other animals as well, but not a lot of them! Chief FalconTalon may be in danger and we need to save him!" I enjoined CosmoPelt with such haist in my voice. "There is not a moment to spare nor a moment to ask any sort of questions about this situation because we need to act now!"

CosmoPelt: "I'm on it!"

Then he quickly consisting of CosmoPelt, HawkClaw, EchoPelt, JayBird, Fire, CloverPool, Ghost, MapleTail, LeafFur, DuskFire, StormShadow, Jemma, and I and then we headed off.

We then came across the tree that he went to investigate earlier that day where he would then mark it, look around for more areas that may have marked by the same rogues, mark them as well, and them come straight back to the Division, but of course, he did not come back and we had to find him out what happened to him and bring him back home safe and sound. Soon enough though, LeafFur picked up his scent and we followed behind her as her nose led the way to wherever he was, unaware of what we were going to stumble upon.

"His scent is beginning to grow stronger, that means he's not too far from where we currently are right now." LeafFur told us when she stopped for a brief moment to look at us. "We can smell his scent from here, too." JayBird added.
