Chapter XIII: The Forth Returns.

Jemma:

Shockwave.

The fourth power that had been proposed by BoulderHeart upon suggesting it to the leaders which was then approved to be the fourth power. Those who went on to possess this power would be given the ability to send powerful shockwaves that blast an enemy off of their feet and perhaps even hit a nearby tree. The last one to have inherit this power was AdderFur up until his eventual, yet sudden death. And I was told that I would be the next one to inherit this power when the time came.

DuskFire:

Pyrokinesis.

The twelveth power that had been suggested by CrowWing upon finding Ember, her brothers and sisters out in the woods during a patrol, where he had decided that she and her siblings would be the chosen animals to represent the second eight Protectors of the forest— those who went on to possess this power who be given the ability to summon and use flames for their own needs of defense against their enemies. The last animal to have inherit this power was FlameCloud up until his eventual, yet sudden death. And I had been chosen to represent this power.

And there would come a time when our powers that we had yet to receive would make themselves known only for a brief moment just so we could get a basic idea of what to expect when we were given those powers.

Jemma:

Date: June 13, 2020.

When we met up with each other to head to the Northeast, we noticed immediately that something was wrong upon Summer meeting up at the same time as all of us— she was wearing a black short sleeved jacket with the hoodie over her head and her hands in the pockets of the jacket and she was also struggling to walk correctly and stumbled around a bit. We all shared looks of worry and concern for Summer and Amethyst was the first one to speak up: "Summer, what's wrong?"

Summer responded only by turning away, looking down at the ground without making eye contact with any of us. "I choose not to talk about it." She snarled and mumbled, snarky tone. We were taken aback by this sudden sullen behavior she was given us. I decided to approach her to find what was wrong. "What happened, Summer?" I asked calmly. She tusrned around to face me; her eyes were filled with exhaustion and sorrow as she struggled to find the right words to say but eventually answered us by saying: "My sister is in the hospital because of that bastard Brian."

Then we were met with shock by this news, hearing that Autumn was in the hospital was something we had hoped not to hear or happen at all. Amethyst was the first one to speak up: "Oh, Summer… I am so sorry. We all are, truly, we are."

Summer: "You know, normally, a person would say, 'it's okay', but in my predicament, it's not okay. Nothing it okay, nothing about what happened last night is okay! It feels like Death just keep coming back for more and more flesh and blood from my family every single damn time!"

She stopped for a moment and looked at us before saying: "I'm sorry, y'all, I'm just stressed out and tired after what happened last night."

Bellatrix: "Summer, if you don't mind me asking: What happened last night?"

Summer: "Well, around 1:10 a.m., Lavender called me telling me that Autumn was in the hospital because she heard Autumn collapse in the bedroom she and Cedric sleep in and then they rushed to the hospital and after I ended the call I rushed there myself and later did Kyle and we waited for thirteen minutes until one of the nurses as well as the last doctor that tended to Autumn during her last appointment came up to us to inform all of us that, while she was in a coma, they managed to stablize her; however, while they were doing that, they learned that the reason she was in pain and had collapsed later that same night was because the stent that was placed into her groin hadn't been placed in correctly by Doctor Brian. Phillip was pissed about how Brian was the reason that our sister's life was now on the line and went on to rightfully beat the living hell out of him, though we did have to stop him before he killed him. Cedric gave Brian a friendly reminder that the woman that was rushed to the hospital was his wife and that she was battling her cancer for her family as well as their two daughters and that the girls still needed their mother in their lives. The doctors told us that they were going to do everything in their power to help save Autumn's life and would inform us when she woke up from her coma. But after we all went back home for the night, I made things worse for myself. Because when I went back home that same night, I was se stressed out about the fact that Autumn's life was on the line to the point where I went outside to throw up before I came back inside, grabbed two bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey, twelve whiskey glasses, and filled up the first six. I threw the third glass when I was done with it as well as knock over one of the chairs at the dining room table, which alerted Kyle and we had a bit of a pep talk afterwards and so here we are– me dragging my sober, yet slightly drunk ass out here to the woods all for the sake of protecting it because apparently, it's destiny– a destiny I had no fucking clue about until two years ago and here I am now, still doing it. And girls, please don't make the same choice as I did last night."
