Chapter 37

Flashback to two days ago

"Hey, Do you want to take a quick walk with me in the flower garden, after that, I will drop you off at your apartment," Seneca asked.

"Sure, I would love to," Lea said as she followed Seneca toward the flower garden.

"I really can't believe, we already know each other for 4 years," Lea said.

"I know right, I love spending time with you whenever you are in the Capitol. It feels like we only met yesterday," Seneca said

"I like spending time with you as well," Lea said

"Alright, I have been trying to build up the courage to tell you this for the past four years but each time that I tried, I chickened out because I was too afraid that I would lose you but I love you, Lea, I am so in love with you," Seneca said and Lea's face turned blank. She didn't really know what to say. She was with Finnick and saw Seneca only as a friend and she didn't want to lose this friendship by breaking his heart.

"Oh Seneca, I am so sorry but I only see you as a friend. I am in love with somebody else," Lea said

"I was afraid of that, it's Finnick right?" Seneca asked

"Yes, I'm sorry Seneca and I am sorry if I ever led you on, but no one in the Capitol can know me and Finnick are together," Lea said.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anybody," Seneca said

"Please, tell me that we can stay friends, I really love our friendship," Lea said as a tear started flowing out of her eye.

"Sure, we can stay friends," Seneca said but at that moment Lea knew that by the way Seneca said that, nothing would ever be the same between them.

"Can I ask you one last thing?" Seneca asked

"Of course, you can ask me anything," Lea said

"If Finnick was not in the picture, would I have had a chance with you?" Seneca asked

"Yes, you would have," Lea said as Seneca simply nodded, the pain clearly visible in his eyes.

"Come on, I will walk you back to your apartment," Seneca said as the two walked to the District 4 apartment in Silence.

When they got back to the apartment, Lea hugged Seneca.

"Goodbye Seneca," Lea said

"Goodbye Lea," Seneca said.

And somehow, this goodbye felt like it was goodbye forever and that she had lost him.

Two months Later

Alexander had won the Games, in the end, it was between him and the District 1 male and Alexander was able to overpower him with his trident and won the Games. They were all back in District 4 and Alexander even introduced Lea to his parents and they all talked about Louis, it felt really good for Lea to finally talk about it and get it all off her chest. She finally got rid of all the guilt that she was carrying.

Lea was sitting with Finnick on the couch in their house. Suddenly, there was a loud knock at the door, Lea opened the door and Alexander was standing there, he looked like he had just been crying.

"Hey Alex, what is going on? Do you want to come in?" Lea asked, Alexander didn't say anything he just followed Lea instead with a blank look on her face.

"They're dead," He blurted out.

"What are you talking about?" Finnick asked

"They went on a trip last week on my dad's boat and they were supposed to be back 3 days ago. At first, I didn't think much of it but today I got a note to inform me that they had passed away," Alexander cried out.
