Chapter 5

2 weeks later

"Hey Mom, good morning," Lea said as she walked down the stairs. 

"Hey, Honey, how are you doing?" Pam asked. 

"Well, Finnick still hasn't talked to me, despite me going over to his house multiple times," Lea said. 

"Maybe you can try to go over once again today, it must be hard for him to adjust to everything here, with everything that happened in the Games. We have never and hopefully we never have to go through that, so it's not our place to judge, I'm sure he will come around, he is not going to drop you just like that," Pam said

"I really hope you are right mom, I don't know what I would do without him, he is my best friend," Lea said with a sad look on her face. 

"Are you going to eat breakfast first, I made pancakes," Pam asked. 

"Sure, he probably won't talk to me, so doesn't matter when I go," Lea sighed. 

"Honey, please don't think like that," Pam said. 

"You are right, I won't," Lea smiled before taking a bite of her pancake. 

"You like the pancakes, honey?" Pam asked. 

"Yes, they are delicious," Lea said. 

"Did I hear Pancakes?" Kai's voice came from upstairs which made both Lea and Pam laugh. 

"He smells food and he wakes up," Pam said, rolling her eyes. 

"Typically Kai," Lea chuckled.

After breakfast, Lea walked over to the victor's village to the Odair house. She had already gone there multiple times over the past 2 weeks but each time she got there, his mom told her that he was very busy and couldn't talk. She hadn't even seen him at school or in the training academy 'cause he probably didn't need that anymore now that he had all the wealth in the world but if he didn't do that, what could he possibly be so busy with? It was probably just some silly excuse to avoid seeing her because he was now a Victor, while she was just a simple District girl. Lea had decided that she was going to go over one last time and after that, it was up to him to contact her. If he didn't want to be friends anymore, that was his decision but she was certainly not going to follow him around like a puppy dog anymore. She would simply show him what a grave mistake he made by cutting her out of his life. 

When she got to the Odair house, she knocked on the door.  A few seconds later, she was met by Ms. Odair's face. "Hi, sweetheart, it's so nice to see you, what brings you here?" Finnick's mom said. "I was wondering whether I could see Finnick, it's been two weeks since I last saw him and I really miss him," Lea said. 

"Oh, yes he is probably in his room, let me see if I can get him." Finnick's mom said. 

She was anxiously waiting at the door, while Finnick's mom went to get him. He would want to see her, why wouldn't he? They had been best friends since they were 6 years old. After a few minutes, Finnick's mom reappeared but Finnick was not with her. 

"I am very sorry dear, he said he is very busy at the moment, maybe some other time." Finnick's mom said. "Oh okay sure, sorry for bothering you," Lea said. 

"Don't worry about it honey, please come back any time," Finnick's mom, Elaine smiled at her. 

"Sure thing," Lea said with a fake smile before turning around and walking away. 

There wouldn't be a next time, she was not going to beg Finnick to spend time with her. If he thought that he was too good to be friends with her and would ignore her, she would do the same. She never thought that her best friend, well ex-best friend was the kind of person who would let the life of a Victor change him but unfortunately, she was wrong.
