Chapter 75

District 13

Katniss couldn't let the thought, that Lea might still be alive go and she wanted to find a way that she could prove it to Finnick. There was only one person who could help her with that. 

"Beetee, can I talk to you for a second?" Katniss asked Beetee who was sitting behind a laptop in the main area.  

"Of course, what do you need?" Beetee asked. 

"I heard from Finnick that Plutarch was ordered by Snow in the games to kill Lea off but the more I think about it, the more it doesn't make any sense. Snow is her grandfather and even if he doesn't care for her, he wouldn't just kill her off like that. I know him, he is the kind of person that would use her against us and he gains nothing from killing her off," Katniss explained. 

"So you think that she is still alive?" Beetee asked. 

"Yes, I really believe that she is and that she is in the Capitol. I just need to find a way to prove that Finnick and I know you can break through the Capitol communication system," Katniss said. 

"Yeah, I did break through their communication system but for now we don't have any information about the victors that might be in the Capitol. That's why we cannot do a rescue mission yet, since we have no idea where they are if they are even still there," Beetee said. 

"Isn't there any way that we can find that out, to find out whether she is still alive?" Katniss asked. 

"I'm afraid, at the moment not but Snow released a promo clip yesterday, with Peeta and Johanna by his side, So I can tell you with confidence that Peeta is still alive," Beetee said. 

Katniss's main mission now was finding out whether Lea was still alive, she felt like she owed that to Finnick since he saved Peeta so many times. But hearing that Peeta was still alive, gave her a feeling of relief. She could only hope that he would stay sane during his period in the Capitol. 

"Can I see it?" Katniss asked, she just wanted to see Peeta's face. 

"Unfortunately, we were too late to record it and it was a live broadcast but he looked okay. I don't think they have hurt him too badly for now," Beetee said. 

For now. Katniss really wanted to see how he was doing. He might be okay for now, but she was very scared of what they would do. 

"So, there is nothing we can do at the moment?" Katniss asked. 

"I'm sorry, no. At this moment, we can only hope that she is also used in one of the promo clips so that Finnick can see with his own eyes if she is still alive. But if that doesn't happen, there is nothing I can do. I am trying my very best to find out the location of the victors," Beetee explained.  "And also please consider Coin's proposal of being the Mockingjay. Snow has started with his promo clips and we need to strike back as soon as possible. If you disagree, she will not even think about rescuing the victors from the Capitol," 

"Thank you Beetee, I am considering it," Katniss said before she walked off. 

"Oh and Katniss?" Beetee asked, making Katniss turn around. 

"Please, don't talk to Finnick too much about this, we don't know for sure whether she is still alive and we don't want to put any false hope in his head. He had already been through more than enough," Beetee said and Katniss just nodded.

Meanwhile, other relationships started developing in District 13. 

Cashmere was sitting in the dining area. She had just been released from the Hospital. She felt very lonely, her brother was in the Capitol and one of her dearest friends was dead. She hadn't really talked to anyone yet, besides Finnick cause she felt like she didn't belong here. She was from District 1 and it felt like people here didn't trust her.
