Chapter 71

Capitol 

Lea was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling of the hospital room that she had been in for the past few days. She didn't even know how long she was already in the Capitol. She thought about Finnick and hoped that he was still alive. Was he safe or not? And what happened to the rest of her friends, to Johanna, Gloss, Cash, and Peeta? Were they also saved? Or were they killed in the games? They all thought that she was dead and she wished there was a way that she could tell them that she was still alive. 

Suddenly she heard screams coming from down the hall. 

"I already told you, I don't know what the hell you are talking about," Lea heard a voice scream, that sounded like Johanna. That couldn't be true right? There is no way that Johanna was in the Capitol. Lea sneaked out of her room, to see who she was hearing. When she got to the room, she saw a peacekeeper coming out. She quickly hid behind the corner so the peacekeeper would not see her. 

"I will give you another chance to rethink that answer, tomorrow we will be back and if you don't have an answer for us then, you will see what the consequences are," The peacekeeper said before walking out. 

When the peacekeeper was far enough. Lea got from behind the counter and walked to the room quietly. 

She got to the room and she couldn't believe what she saw. Johanna was sitting on the bed, her best friend was still alive and she was in the Capitol, why was she here and not with the rebels? Did the rescue mission fail and was Finnick here as well? All these thoughts flooded Lea's mind. 

"Johanna?" She said as she walked into Johanna's room. 

Johanna looked at her with a blank look on her face. "Lea, what, what are you doing here? How are you alive? I, I uh watched you die, you were dead," Johanna stuttered as she put her hand to her mouth. "It's not really you, is it?, they are taunting me, with it, I knew it," 

"Please, stop it. Don't use my Best friend against me, I can't, please," Johanna cried out. 

"Jo, no please, It is me. I am still alive," Lea said as she approached Johanna. 

"No, that, that is not possible," Johanna loudly breathed. 

"It is, they carried me out and saved me," Lea explained. 

"Oh my god, I can't believe it is really you, I thought I had lost you forever," Johanna cried out as Lea ran to her and hugged her tightly

"I am so happy to see you," Lea said while continuing to hug Johanna. "Why are you here?" Lea asked her Best friend as she sat down next to her on the bed. 

"I don't know how it all happened, the end of the games were so chaotic. I only remember, Katniss blowing up the forcefield and then everything turned black, and next thing I knew, I woke up here," Johanna explained. 

"Who else is here?" Lea asked. 

"Yesterday I sneaked out of my room 'cause I heard screams and Gloss and Peeta are also here, they are down the hall," Johanna said. 

"How about Finnick?" Lea asked, not knowing what she hoped the answer would be. On the one side, she hoped that the rebels rescued him and that he was safe but on the other hand, she also kind of hoped that he was in the Capitol so that she could see him again. 

"He is not here," Johanna sighed and Lea just looked down. She should be happy that at least one of them was rescued. 

"But he made it to the end?" Lea asked. 

"Yeah, he did but he almost didn't, after he saw you die, he wanted to die and so did I. Seeing you die was the most heartbreaking experience of my life. I didn't want to live without you, neither of us did but we still carried on, to avenge you. I killed Enobaria and Gloss killed Brutus," Johanna explained.
