"I ate way too many, I'm going to keep calm for the next hour 'cause if I do something physical right now, I will puke," Lea said while rubbing her hand over her stomach.
"Look, Katniss is trying to make some fishhooks, maybe go over and help her, gain some of her sympathy. After all, you are a pro at making them," Finnick said.
"Alright, good idea," Lea said before walking over to Katniss.
"Hey, wants some help with that?" Lea suggested as she got to the table where Katniss was standing.
"Oh Hey Lea, yeah I never really got the chance to learn about fish hooks," Katniss said.
"If you want, I can show you how to make one," Lea said
"That would be nice," Katniss said and Lea just nodded. "I saw you practicing with the bow earlier. How about you teach me how to make a fishhook and I will teach you how to work with an arrow and bow,"
"Great, let's do that," Lea said as she smiled at Katniss.
"Alright, first you take a wire that is about 4 to 6 inches long. With that, we are going to shape the hook. Using the pliers, first bend one end of the wire into a tight loop and this will form the eye of the hook where you can attach your fishing line," Lea explained while Katniss copied her movements. "Next you want to form the hook and to do this you bend the other end of the wire into a hook shape. Start by making a small bend to create the point of the hook. Then, gradually shape the wire into a curved hook. You can use the pliers to help shape the wire as needed. You can sharpen the hook if you want using a file or some sandpaper but this is optional," Lea said.
"Oh waaw, thank you, this actually looks good, Never would have gotten it without your help," Katniss said
"Glad I could help," Lea smiled at Katniss and Katniss smiled right back.
"Can I ask you a question?" Katniss asked
"Of course," Lea smiled.
"Why did you volunteer? I thought you were against it," Katniss said.
"I was at first but, I couldn't see one of my best friends go back into the games. I guess I understand your reasons a bit better now, being in the situation myself," Lea sighed. "When it concerns something you love, you can't think clearly sometimes and you just want to do everything to protect them," Lea said
"You are a good person, Lea," Katniss said with a smile.
"So are you," Lea smiled back.
"Come on, Let's go practice some archery," Katniss said
"Great," Lea said as she and Katniss walked towards the archery station.
"Alright, so it's not merely about shooting an arrow at a target, your position is the most important thing. First, you must find your stance. Feet shoulder-width apart and your body aligned with the target, we are going to start easy and aim at the stomach," Katniss explained as she demonstrated.
Lea mirrored Katniss' movements. "Good, now draw the bow," Katniss said.
Lea drew the bow back with great force. "Try to put a little less force in, let the bow do some of the work. If you span it so tight, it's going to be harder to release it and it will probably flow to where you don't want it to," Katniss explained.
With Katniss's guidance, Lea adjusted her grip, spanning the bow a little less tight.
"Now, release," Katniss instructed
With a deep breath, Lea loosed the arrow and watched it flow through the air, striking the target.
"Great job, for the first time, you did excellent," Katniss said.
