Chapter 40

Lea was walking towards the bar, she needed to talk to Haymitch. She got that he wanted to do everything to save his tributes but this was going a bit far. Two winners had never been allowed before, why would he get an exception?

"Haymitch," She yelled as she saw him sitting at the bar.

"Are you serious? Why would you talk to him?" Lea angrily asked and Haymitch immediately knew what she was talking about.

"It thought it might be good you know, to sell the love story a little bit. The people clearly love it," He said

"You are going to get him killed!" Lea said as she started to cry

"What are you upset about?" Haymitch asked, clearly confused.

"I care about him," Lea screamed.

"He is Capitol, Lea, he has been responsible for killing 23 children each year since he became head game maker. You can't seriously want to protect him, Lea!" Haymitch screamed back.

"I do, he has become one of my closest friends. Snow is going to kill him," Lea yelled.

"Calm down, maybe we don't even need the rule, they are the only pair left now and I doubt the boy is going to survive against the boy from 2. He will be fine," Haymitch exclaimed.

Haymitch studied Lea's over-the-top reaction. Sure, she cared about Seneca but there was another reason why she was reacting like this. He knew her better than this.

"Sweetheart, is there another reason why you are acting like this," Haymitch asked

"No," Lea coldly said

"Sweetheart, I know you better than that, come on,"

"It is just not fair okay, I was very close with my tribute partner as well and he died in my arms because he was protecting me. Why wasn't it allowed then?" Lea cried out.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, I didn't want to upset you. I know how you feel, I was pretty close with my district partner. Everybody in there would have wanted that rule," He said.

"You are right, I'm sorry, I overreacted," Lea said

"It's alright, I get why you are upset but nothing is going to happen to Seneca," Haymitch said and now he only hoped that he was right and that Seneca would be spared if the rule was ever used.

"See I told you, this was going to happen. It is only them and the boy from two," Lea said while nervously looking at the TV screen. Katniss, Peeta, and Cato were now standing on top of the Cornucopia, hiding from the muts

"The boy from two is clearly stronger," Finnick said as the three of them were waiting

"Yeah but it's two against one, they have the upper hand," Lea said.

Suddenly Cato holds Peeta by the neck and Katniss points her arrow at him.

"Come on, shoot me, then we both go down and you win," Cata scoffed "Go on, I'm dead anyway. I always was right? I didn't know that until now," He cried out as he put his hands around Peeta's neck, almost strangling him.

"How's that? Is that what they want, huh? He screamed. "I can still do this, one more kill. It's the only thing I know how to do. Putting pride in my district. Not that it matters," He said as Katniss shoots her arrow in his arm, making his stumble back while he loosens his grip on Peeta, Peeta pushes him off the cornucopia and he gets eaten by the wolves.

"They are the only ones left, He has to reverse the rule," Lea stressed.

"He will, don't worry," Finnick said.
