Four years later

Four years had passed since Finnick had won the Hunger Games. Lea hadn't spoken to him once during those four years and neither had he. When they saw each other, Finnick did smile at her, but she just stared him death in the eye.

Lea was now 18, she had been training a lot during those past years and had become the best fighter in the entire training school. It was the last year that she could get reaped for the Hunger Games and if she was, she knew that she could win but even though she had the ability the win, she didn't want to get reaped, cause she saw what happened to past victors, the trauma that they go through after the games. Even though she would never ignore her friends like Finnick did, she still didn't want to kill innocent people.

"Ughh, there he is again, Mister Victor. I hate him so much. I don't understand how I was friends with him for such a long time." Lea said while she was throwing knives at the dummy before her.

"Yeah I know, he has become such a different person after winning his games," Annie said.

"I even heard, he has been taking regular trips to the capital and has been seen with lots of Capitol women," Emma said

"Can't say I am surprised, Those women are a bit more up to his standards and I am," Lea scoffed.

"You are lucky that this is your last year that you can get reaped, I still have 2 years to go. I really don't want to get picked cause I am so bad at fighting, I would be one of those tributes who dies at the bloodbath at the cornucopia," Annie said

"Oh that's right, I always forget that you are a year younger than us, Annie," Emma said

"Don't underestimate yourself, Annie, you are better than you think you are. I honestly wouldn't mind getting picked, I know I can win those games. You know what Annie, If you get reaped, I will volunteer for you," Lea said to her Best friend and Annie simply smiled.

"The only reason I wouldn't want to go is that then I have to spend time with Odair as he is Districts 4 mentor now," Lea said

"What would he do then, he would be forced to talk to you then," Emma said.

"He would probably still ignore me most of the time, that's just the coward that he is," Lea scoffed before continuing to throw knives.

Finnick's POV

Even though Finnick hadn't talked to her for the past four years, he just watched her train regularly, admiring her from a distance. She had become very strong, a very good fighter. There was no doubt that if she was reaped to go into the games, she could win. She would be the most lethal there. But he didn't want that fate for her, if she would go into the games and win, she would be a very desirable victor and would have to undergo the same fate as him. He has been doing President Snow' 'Jobs' for the past 2 years and he hated every second of it. It was disgusting, most of the women were well in their forties and they hired an 18-year-old. How sick could you be?

Each time he saw her smile, he wanted it to be him that made her laugh. His life was not the same without her, and it never would be. She would always have his heart and he knew he would never be able to love another person like that.

He was currently walking back from the train station, he had just come back from another visit to the Capitol. As he was walking to Victor's village, he saw Lea talking to one of the trainers of the training school, who always complimented her and touched her. He hated it, but he couldn't stop it. She was a beautiful 18-year-old woman and he would be a fool to think that others wouldn't see that as well.
