Chapter 14

Finnick's POV

Suddenly everything went wrong. Jacob was dead so that meant the end of the career pack and everyone would turn against each other. He saw Ava crying over Jacobs's body and Charles killing her. Lea was shot in her leg and even though Louis was helping her, Charles was making his way over to them with a knife in his hand. Finnick was stressing so much, he was going to see his love, his sunshine die. 

Tyler was sitting on the edge of the couch, rising from his seat as he walked around nervously 

"You happy know Tyler, You told them to stick with the career pack. Well now she is going to die," he spat. 

"Calm down Finnick, don't assume the worst," Tyler said trying to calm Finnick down but deep down he was stressing as much as he was. 

Finnick hated seeing her like this. It was hard for him to watch her go through all of this on her own. He wanted to be with her, hug her, and tell her that everything was going to be okay. 

He then stormed out of the room cause he simply couldn't see his love die.

Lea's POV

Marcus was making his way over to us, There was nothing that we could do. Suddenly Charles put his knife back in his belt. 

"Only this once Four, because you saved my life with that snake, but you better run 'cause next time I won't be as nice," Charles said as he ran away. 

"I didn't expect that to happen," Louis said while continuing to apply pressure to Lea's wound. 

"You need to go, Louis, I can't stand up, it hurts too much. The next person who comes here is not going to be as nice. You don't want to have me as a liability, Go and win this for our district," Lea said. 

"No Lea, I'm not going to leave you alone, If you can't walk I will carry you," Louis said. 

"Wasn't there any bandage in one of the survival packs?" Lea asked. 

"Well Marcus took all three of them with him," Louis said as he saw a parachute coming towards them. The parachute contained a box with some bandages, some painkillers, and some ointment to apply later to prevent infection and a note from Finnick: 

"I really thought that I was going to lose you, please hold on for a few more days. You can do this, I believe in you," 

"You are really lucky that you have so many sponsors to send you everything that you need," Louis chuckled as he helped her apply the bandages and gave her some painkillers

"Can you stand up?" Louis asked

"I'm fine thank you, we just have to go a bit slower," Lea said. 

"We will set up camp here and go further in the morning," Louis said.

The next day, Lea woke up before the sun rose. She peacefully watched the sunrise and couldn't help but smile. Despite the hard reality she was in, the sun could always make her smile. 

"How are you feeling, does your leg still hurt?" Louis asked. 

"I applied some of that ointment a few hours ago and It really worked like magic. My leg looks like it was never shot in the first place." Lea said 

"Okay so there are 7 tributes left beside us, what is the plan, do we hunt them down or do we stay in our camp?" Louis asked

"This is already our fourth day in here, most of the people who are still alive are not alive by chance. So I suggest we get up, look for some food and something to drink, and see who we come across with," Lea said. 

As soon as the word food left Lea's mouth, a parachute came from the air. The box was filled with different kinds of pastries, coffee, milk, and water. 

"You know what would really be nice, some chocolate," Lea joked but then another parachute landed in her lab with a box filled with different kinds of chocolate with a note from Finnick saying "Don't push it," 

"Waaw, you really get everything that you want," Louis said. 

"What can I say, it a perk of being well-liked," Lea laughed. 

The pair ate their breakfast in peace, they were really hungry cause with yesterday's events they didn't eat anything besides the bread that Lea received in the morning. 

A while later, they heard voices. 

"Besides Four, we are the only District pair left, we really need to take them down," The girl from District 10, Penny said. 

"We were almost killed by one career yesterday, you don't possibly think that we can take down two careers," Brian, the Boy from 10 said. 

"Well, we cannot simply wait until somebody else does it, if we want to win this, we must take action ourselves," Penny said. 

"We were able to kill both the girl from 11 and the girl from 6 yesterday. So we can certainly defeat those from 4," Penny added. 

Lea and Louis decided to hide between the bushes. When the pair was closed, Lea and Louis jumped out of the bushes, Lea threw one of her knives right at the girl's head, while Louis threw his spear to the boy's head. But what Lea didn't see is that the boy from 10 also threw his sickle right at Louis before he collapsed to the floor. 

"We did it, Louis. We took them down both!" Lea cheered, "There are only three more tributes left, our odds are looking pretty good now," She smiled. "Louis what wrong?" She said looking down, "Is everything okay?" Lea asked. Suddenly, she saw the bloodstains on his shirt. "Louis, no, no, no, please don't leave me. I can try to stop the bleeding," Lea cried as she tried to apply pressure to the wound. 

"It's too late for me Lea, the boy from 10 got me pretty good with his sickle, I'm going to bleed out," Louis cried out. 

"What, no, no, we can fix this, you can't die, you have to go home and see your little brother, you are the one who is suppose to live and go home," Lea cried out. 

"I don't have long anymore," He cried and she looked down to his face, seeing the bloodstains grow bigger and bigger. "Please promise me, you will go home and tell my brother that I love him and that he doesn't need to feel guilty about any of this. I knew that this was going to happen. I am just happy that I got to spend the last few days of my life with you, You are one of the most beautiful and kind people that I have ever met in my entire life. Please win this for our District and enjoy your life as a victor. You will go home and you will get a nice house in the Victor's village and you are going to live a happy life. Please don't feel guilty. There are only three more left and then you will be on your way home, I love you, Lea, please look after my brother for me," Louis cried out. 

Lea looked at the amount of blood that Louis had already lost and she knew that there was nothing that she could do. 

"Does it hurt?" Lea asked. 

"No, it doesn't, It kinda feels like I'm floating," 

"Is there anything I can do?" She asked, trying to hold back her tears. 

"Just stay with me?" He asked. 

"Of course, I'll never leave you," Lea said as Louis closed his eyes

Lea lowered herself and pressed a kiss to his cheek. She didn't even hear the sound of the cannon go off as she sat beside his body. She stayed beside his body for the next 10 minutes, feeling numb. She then stood up and wiped her tears, she knew she had to leave so that the hovercraft could retrieve his body. She was heartbroken, over the past few days, she had really started to care for him and now that she had none left in the arena, she would fight and she would win.
