"What ? what happened ?"
"Uncle, I Think it stopped playing. But why did it stop now?"
"A-die, Xian ge-ge, are you there?"
"we can't see anything"
"Yes, we are here. SiZhui, JingYi, A-ling don't move from where you are."
"I don't know, Wei WuXian do something"
"Jiang Cheng, why are you asking me to do something ? I don't know how this thing operates"
"Can somebody help with this darkness ? I can't start a light. WangJi Xiong can you light up Bichen for a while ?"
"doesn't work"
" huh?"
" ehhhhh what is happening here?"
"okay. Please, everyone stop panicking. The negative energy is very strong here. It can drain your spiritual energy. Wen Ning, go and find some woods to start a fire."
"yes, Wei gongzi"
"uncle it's getting chilly"
"The temperature inside is getting reduced. A-Ling, stay close to me, don't move."
Clouded with resentment energy, the burial mound was surrounded by dense forest. The hard soil was covered with roots entangled with each other. Long veins were decorating the side walls of the cave. Inside that cave there were several small openings, which in the past served as Wei WuXian's locker. He used it to keep the dangerous talismans and inventions safe and away from other's touch. Wen Ning didn't come back here after the Guanyin temple incident. But he knew the place like the back of his palm. It was not difficult to find some woods for fire. He was also the non-human being among them. If encountered anything, he was the best one to fight with them. Wei WuXian kept these in his mind while sending him to collect the woods. But the confidence in Ghost general dissipated the moment he stepped into the depth.
WuXian wasn't lying when he said there were dead bodies inside. Even though that was not the way he said it nor the term used but it was true. Wen Ning strode his way through them. Much to his surprise there weren't many woods or sticks to collect. He bent down to pick something which struck his feet. Instead of a piece of wood with his fingers, what he managed to find was a long, thin bone with some putrefying flesh sticking on it. "If there is still flesh on it, then it must haven't been long since this person died. But why would someone die here? Nobody comes to this place anymore". Walking further inside he managed to collect some woods and pieces of rocks. The cultivators might not realize yet, but they could only use 10 or 20 percent of their spiritual energy here. So now they can't even be used to start a fire.
Wen Ning was ready to go back when suddenly his eyes fell onto something. The shape didn't go with the other bodies inside so with cautious steps he approached it. His legs stopped .....Wen Ning remembered how nervous Wei WuXian was looking when he joined them after searching inside the cave. The shivering hands made sense now. But it was not possible. Most of the things that happened in their lives didn't follow a logic but this .. was .. something.. else................
The lights from talismans they burned, earlier when they came here, were all replaced by the emission from the screen. After the screen went off, the people inside couldn't even see each other. Wen Ning arranged those firewood far from the screen but still near them to feel the heat. The Juniors helped him with the rocks to make a blaze. The heat slowly took over the coldness inside and they felt their blood flowing again.
Wen Ning turned to look around to find all talking to each other engaged in serious conversations. Wei WuXian was standing with Lan WangJi . Both seemed to be examining Bichen, maybe talking about how the said sword is useless without their spiritual energy here. He wanted to approach his master. But watching him standing there with his husband, made Wen Ning think about the old WuXian. The soul was still his master's, but the body.. it belonged to someone else. Wei WuXian was always proud of his appearance. Not being arrogant but he was famous not only for his talents but for his beauty as well. A unique feature for Wei WuXian was his smile, the confident smile that has the power to lighten up everyone around him, the same smile he hid his sorrows behind. In this new body with all pains and memories of last life, that smile felt like a burden.
With a sudden wave of light the screen started again.

yes, yes I know it's a small chapter. But I felt this chapter shouldn't be mixed with the original novel. So here it is, mostly on Wen Ning's pov. Hope you enjoyed 😊
