"What I want is him"

Through the darkness of the cave the loud and firm voice echoed.

They looked in the direction of her long fingers pointed at and....

There stood Lan WangJi frozen and stunned on his spot.

"Lan Zhan?"

What She wants is Lan WangJi?

Wei WuXian's eyes bulged out as the realization dawned on him. His right hand turning into a fist as he carefully asks, "you want Lan Zhan?"

She nodded. Eyes shining in a baroque amount of triumph and a smirk dancing on her lips, which they realised attributing to her already villainous attitude she has been emitting since the start.

Lan QiRen could feel his nerves losing their final strength and giving up as the words started ringing in his ears. "Exchanging WangJi for Jiang YanLi?" Where exactly is the logic in this?

"WangJi has nothing to do with the death of Jiang YnaLi", Lan XiChen stated matter of fact beating Lan QiRen. He was in no way going to turn his back on his brother anymore.

She tilted her neck slightly and seemed to be thinking of something, "doesn't he have everything to do with YiLing Laozu?"

"That doesn't mean you can ask to trade his life in return for something he doesn't have a direct involvement with", Lan XiChen turned to look at his brother and brother-in-law. "Also Wei WuXian is not the one who killed Jiang YanLi. She was killed by a discipline"

"Lan XiChen", she chuckled humorlessly, "The lady I am offering to revive is the elder sister of your love interest". Glancing at Jiang Cheng, "think about it, If Jiang YanLi is back to life don't you think Jiang WanYin would be very happy? All I am asking in return is to let me have Lan WangJi".

"What ? ", Lan XiChen stood there perplexed. He couldn't process what he just heard as if his brain stopped working all together. His lips glued, unable to find words. "Did she really think I would give up my younger brother, the only family I have, for anyone?". He wanted to choke her to death just for having this disgraceful thought. Lan XiChen lost his composure.

"Why would A-Die have to sacrifice himself?". For the very first time in their life, the cultivators heard Lan SiZhui's voice loud and firm enough to split the rocks. There was no hint of the calm boy Lan WangJi raised or the naughty kid Wei WuXian trained.

His eyes pierced in as he looked at her, "Don't try to manipulate us with your petty tricks. You think he is some sideline cultivator you can take hostage?"

"He is the HanGuang-Jun Lan WangJi", Lan JingYi reminded, "in case you forget"

The moment words left her mouth Lan WangJi couldn't utter anything. It seemed too unreal. He knew how much his husband wanted to reunite with his martial sister and that was the very reason why they ended up in this cave. But there was no way Lan WangJi was willing to sacrifice himself to get back the life of Jiang YanLi. In this second chance he got with his Wei Ying, Lan WangJi, indubitably decided to be selfish. His decision was to not leave Wei Ying for anything.

From the corner of his eyes he could see that lady looking at him. Lan WangJi didn't take any interest in returning the stare. There was an ominous sensation screaming at him that something was going to happen and it would have everything to do with him and Wei WuXian. But not even in his nightmares had Lan WangJi guessed of a request such as this. He saw how his family is trying to argue with her and how she is trying to manipulate his brother. How can she even come up with that thought?
