If not because there really wasn't a second path to walk on.

If not because of this, He wouldn't have to choose the diabolic path..

If not because of this, The Yiling Laozu wouldn't have been born..

If not because of this, He wouldn't have to go through the endless misery..

If not because of this, their life wouldn't have been like this...

This one single choice of him changed the lives of many forever...

Only if there was a chance, they would have turned their fate around. Back in the days, during the Sunshot campaign, Wei Wuxian and his dark methods were praised by the cultivation world as high as the sky and a few years later in the Nevernight city, the same methods were criticized by the same people ending up taking his life.

The seniors present there, whether it be from the Lan sect or Nie or Jiang sect, there wasn't a single person who did not forget to criticize the path Wei Chose. They were too curious, dangerously and animalistically eager to drag him down. But what they forgot was to ask the most important Question,

WHY ?

Why did he choose this new path?

But knowing Wei Wuxian very well, would he have given an honest answer if anyone asked?

No. He would have dodged, twisted and turned the question until the person forgot about the topic.

He would have done everything he could to make sure that his little secret is safe, like he did till now.

But remembering the words the so called prominent sect members used on him, the uncountable number of meetings held just to trap Yiling Laozu and his Yin tiger tally, Lan XiChen and Jiang Cheng were still sect leaders even at that time. Lan QiRen was still the sect's elder. Nie HuiSang and Lan WangJi were second heirs of their own sects. They had power. They had privilege. They had money and they had backup. Each and every one of them were capable of standing by his side if they wanted.

But now that their greatest enemy is out of the picture, why would they seek the help of a demonic cultivator?

It was easier to turn away than to fight. Even for Jiang WanYin and Lan WangJi, it took them Wei Wuxian's death and rebirth to understand how pure his heart was, totally opposite of the energy surrounding him.

"So this explains why he was not affected by the resentment in the burial mound", Lan QiRen realised. "Though the air is dense and vigorous with dark energy, Wei WuXian didn't have a golden core to receive it"

"Uncle, does this mean if Wei Wuxian didn't learn to control the resentment then he would have to submit to them?"

Lan QiRen nodded. It was the only way he could survive. To master the resentment instead of submitting to it.

"Is.. I .. mea .. Is there any method to reverse it?", Jiang Cheng stumbled upon his words while turning at Wen Ning expectantly.

"S.. sect leader Jiang", Wen Ning asked cautiously, " what are you asking?"

" The.. the golden core. His golden core", Jiang Cheng couldn't keep his eyes on anyone other than Wen Ning, searching for a little hope.

Obviously he didn't know what to say or do at this point. The best thing Wei Wuxian thought he could do was to stay silent so he was quiet, paying only half attention to whatever they were saying. But at Jiang Cheng's sudden admission, Wei Wuxian turned to him.
