"A-Xian", Jiang YanLi's voice was like a charm. It always worked on Wei WuXian irrespective of the situation. She was always best at reading her brother's moods and delivering the best advice she could.
"It is just like what we always teased him in the past", she is now standing in front of her brothers although the other one could not see her. "One has to dig deeper to reach where he buried the love and affection in his life"
Wei WuXian couldn't agree more. This grumpy brother was always like this, ever since he could remember. "You mean XiChen ge is going to have a tough time?", he giggled inwardly.
"Incredibly", YanLi laughed along looking fondly at her brother, "who knew both my brothers were gonna end up in the same sect they badmouthed a lot"
"Yours were already predictable but Jiang Cheng...", she seemed to enjoy this new turn of events to the very core. "He absolutely went out of the syllabus"
Just by thinking about those times, Wei WuXian's lips stretched to a heartfelt smile. He glanced at his brother who was talking to Lan XiChen, probably about the kids who walked out on them.
"Shijie...", he called. Apart from all the jokes he couldn't take it away from his mind that Jiang Cheng actually risked his life to save him.
"what if they actually killed him"
"They didn't", she reminded him. "Moreover he was entrusting me with you. So do you still think you have no place in his life anymore?"
Wei WuXian didn't say anything. YanLi didn't expect an answer either. But she could see his eyes passing her and darting towards the back.
"Do you really have nothing to tell him? ", she asked, looking back at her parents.
They shook their heads dejectedly.
"We are already dead", Madam Yu's voice was nothing like in the past, this time it was soft and abnormally calm, "a decade has passed. It is too late even for an apology"
"You could try", YanLi raised her voice. "It is never late to admit your faults"
Their features were already stagnating. The eyes that once shone brightly were now in deep holes and the limbs dangerously slender Wei WuXian could almost count the bones in their body. The sect leader and Madam who once ruled the Yunmeng under their control were now just souls wandering in the world of living.
"A-Xian we.."
Wei WuXian stopped them. "First You should apologize to the kids you gave birth to. Have you ever thought about it, Shijie couldn't enjoy her life because she had to be the mother of two boys she never gave birth to. You failed as parents and she had to come forward just so her younger brother wouldn't lack the warmth of family. Have you ever talked to Jiang Cheng apart from the time when comparing and scrutinizing him? The damage you made in his life is still haunting him. And you are the one and only reason why he is emotionally drained"
In his past life Wei WuXian never dared to look straight into their eyes and criticize them. But now it was more than needed.
"I don't know if he could at least feel your presence here, but if there is the slightest possibility, then I want you to apologize to him. Think about it".
Wei WuXian looked back to Jiang Cheng. Everything that has happened so far was incredibly overwhelming.
"I don't want to talk about that anymore", feeling the gaze on him Jiang Cheng said, his eyes still brimming with tears.
