@not_niehuaisang I think I might make a short story based on what you suggested 😉

Now please enjoy the Epilogue. There is nothing much in this part so treat this as an intro for the extra chapters....

--------------------------------------------

The sun was still burning hot when Lan WangJi reached Cloud Recess. When the silver light of Bichen glazed in the air, the disciples guarding the gate was alerted of the arrival of their second master. It would not be an exaggeration to say that they were worried, extremely, anticipating the outcome of today's visit to the burial mound. They knew Lan WangJi's life was dependent on that. Although they were still in the dark about the things that happened a year back, the fact that Wei WuXian didn't come back and Lan WangJi never left Jingshi after that day was enough to reach a conclusion.

It was not just the Cloud Recess that was witnessing the changes in Lan WangJi for the past one year. More precisely, Lan WangJi was not the only person who changed. From the sect leaders of the 4 main sects to the disciples, the person who wasn't affected by the disappearance of Wei WuXian was very few. Though most of the time Lans acted as if they didn't approve of the existence of their Lan-Er-Furen, who were they kidding? It was until that person disappeared entirely from their life that they understood the importance of Wei WuXian. How easy their life was when that one person was there to cheer up their dull and gloomy days.

"HanGuang-Jun"

They bowed respectfully at the mere glimpse of a white robe in the vicinity, though they knew it was of no use. The man, from the moment the light of his life dimmed, never paid any attention to his surroundings. Lan WangJi, the epitome of manners and etiquettes, didn't care even if the entire world burned down as long as his Wei Ying was not in it.

How could anything be worthy of his attention if it was not his Wei Ying? So the disciples as usual were not expecting a return when they bowed to him. And as expected Lan WangJi walked past them, not caring of anything happening around. They even doubted if he actually noticed them standing there.

Until that same morning, HanGuang-Jun, who was as good as dead, was walking like a fierce corpse. Even when the group was ready to leave for burial mound, Lan WangJi's eye were dead. As if someone was deliberately dragging him out, as if he was scared of the truth, as if he was terrified to face the reality, Lan WangJi was reluctant to leave. But the man walking past them just now looked nothing like the man who left Cloud Recess that morning. The two guards looked at each other, stunned and confused.

He looked alive, more alive than they saw him in these recent years. Though the secluded life inside Jingshi for the past one year took a toll on him and evidently left traces in his demeanor, there was also this energy bursting out of him. Those golden eyes shining brighter than the sun, his walk steady and as elegant as ever. This man was like a new version of their HanGuang-Jun. One of the guards even doubted that there was a slight smile on that always stoic face, but he didn't get enough time to enjoy the delicacy.

But this sudden, totally unexpected change in a good way was not what caught them off guard. It was the man in his hands.

In all these years of their life, there was only two times Lan WangJi brought someone home, be it a man or woman. First time was a toddler many years back, who now grew up to be a fine gentleman, the next heir of Lan Sect, Lan SiZhui, Lan WangJi's adopted son.
