Construct-23 : Brew ( I )

Inside of a deserted building

" Hm? What's this? "

A pale haired girl said, lifting up a metallic object on the floor.

She then brushed the dust that has accumulated on the object, revealing it to be an iron kettle.

" A kettle? "

The girl said to herself.

' It has been a long time since I last used one of these... '

The girl, Evolto, thought to herself as she was reminded of the times when she would brew coffee while posing as a cafe shop owner.

Though, her brews would usually taste terrible as her species has a different sense of taste compared to humans.

' Well, even when Misora and Banjou tried it they said that it was terrible... '

' Maybe I should stop trying to make them taste like black holes whenever I brew them.... '

Then again, who could blame her as the damn thing looks so similar to a black hole in a cup, and even the name ' black coffee ' didn't help much in dissuading the idea.

Shaking her head from side to side, she realised she was getting side tracked.

' That aside, there's nothing in this building either, huh...? '

Evolto commented.

She had already gone through several of the abandoned buildings in the ghost town, but as if the residents just vanished into thin air there are no signs of humans despite the buildings being relatively modern in it's architectural design.

' Must've been one of those Honkai Outbreak... '

She deduced from the situation of all the buildings she had searched, with all exit and entrances being barricaded in some form, most likely to prevent Honkai Beasts from entering.

' That means that the humans here were either annihilated, or the surviving ones evacuated somewhere else... '

She then exited her current building, to hopefully find some clues on where she is in the next one.

" Oh? That building seems like it could be useful. "

She said, before quickening her pace towards another building, this one being much larger than the rest.

It's design suggests it to be some kind of town hall, a place where people would usually gather to in the case of a disaster.

Pushing open two massive doors that, strangely, wasn't locked, Evolto peeked inside the building by sticking her head in between the two doors.

It was dark.

On the floor are misplaced tiles and debris, the rest of the room however was too shrouded in darkness in order to properly see, the parts that were visible was only illuminated by the light coming from Evolto's direction.

Deciding to investigate further, Evolto opened the doors even more and entered.

The door behind her slammed shut with a loud bang.

* BANG! *

' How cliché. '

Evolto thought to herself.

" Hmm.... "

Observing her surroundings, a single thought came to her.

' It is....way too dark in here to make out anything... '

" !! "

Suddenly, as if realising something an imaginary lightbulb lit up on top of her head( though it didn't help illuminate her surroundings whatsoever ).

' How could I forget....?! '

She then extended her hand in front of her, palm facing upwards.

Then suddenly, a small spark came out of the surface of her hand, before igniting into a red flare that illuminated the surroundings.

' Yes! '

' It worked...! '

This was another one of Evolto's abilities, carried over to this world from her past life.

She is able to manipulate a crimson fire-like substance and even use it to attack her enemies by shooting it out of her palms, the attack itself having enough power to destroy one of his previous adversaries' creation, The Sclash Driver.

Though in her current state it's power is limited to only being able to produce a small flame on her palm, not that she mind since she can see clearly now.

" Now then, hopefully there's something here that can tell me exactly where I am... "

And thus, Evolto started her search in the dingy building.
