The personally scribbled last will of Richard Norland
I , Richard Norland, hereby testify that this is my last surviving will. I testify that I am of stable mind and mindset as I pen this document. The will is witnessed and signed off by my senior partner and former roommate at Harvard University Ethan Reid in my law firm office on this bright sunny beautiful day in mid September 2024.
To my husband Nigel Hawthorne -Cyrus Norland I leave you the deed to our homes in Hyattsville Maryland and Arlington Virginia as well as the remainder of all the funds in my personal account , our joint account , the stock market earnings and the earnings related to my senior partnership at the firm. I also leave you my everlasting love and respect and adoration. You rescued me from my dull drab boring stable life and taught me how to love the people in my life including yourself. You gave me the courage to come out as a bisexual man. I hate to leave you, baby, but it won't be forever. See you on the other side , darling.
To my son Lewis Norland I leave the sum of 100,000 dollars which will be left in a trust fund administered by his Uncle Spencer Norland -Lane if he is a minor when I die. I love you, son.
To my daughter Rebecca Norland I leave you the sum of 100,000 dollars which will be in a trust fund administered by her Uncle Spencer Norland -Lane if she is a minor when I die. I love you, Pumpkin. You are my daughter in my heart and my mind and will always be.
To my son Niles Norland I leave only my love and forgiveness. And the sum of fifty cents.
To my brother in law Dr. Spencer Norland -Lane and his husband Dr. DuBuis Lane I leave my love and respect. I also leave the sum of 250,000 dollars. Have fun with it , Spencer. I leave you with this as well for you to ponder over: What are the odds of my being dead ?
To my father Andrew Norland and his wife Glory I leave the sum of 300 ,000 dollars. I love you both. Dad, I forgive you.
To my former wife Tania, mother of my son Lewis, I leave 50,000 dollars. Thanks for the laughs. I will always think of that one Fall day you ran into the back of my car. That was the first day we met.
