Forty Six

Suddenly the lights went out in the arena.

It was time.

My nerves went as quickly as they came, and I realised that I loved being up there on stage with Ronan. It was like a dream come true...in more ways than one.

"Now" said Ronan, "I don't know if any of you'se have noticed tonight, but I've got a new line up"

Some people cheered. "I'd like to introduce my new backing singer, Vicky"

There were more cheers and a few wolf whistles, I laughed. "And now, she's going to sing the next song with me"

I am?????? I thought to myself, since when?

The band started to play 'we've got tonight', I'm sure it's not on the set list I thought.

Then I remembered that it was, but Ronan had explained to me that he normally played the video or did a live link with Lulu.

Talk about throwing me in at the deep end, lucky I know all the words, I thought to myself!

The concert was over as soon as it had began. I was trying to find Ronan after the show when I bumped into Simon Cowell's P.A. I knew it was her, because she was the spitting image of me.

"Vicky"

How did she know my name? I looked at her questionably.

"Ronan introduced you on stage"

Duh!

"I want to speak to you about the X Factor"

"The what?" I said.

"The X Factor" she repeated.

"Simon's new TV show. I'm Simon Cowell's P.A. by the way"

"I know" I said laughing, "I met him in Cardiff once, he was shouting at me because he thought I was you!"

"Oh, sorry!!" she laughed.

"Anyway" she continued, talking at about a hundred miles an hour as these people often do.

"You'll need to go to an audition in London"

"Look I'll get Simon to call you" she said and thrust her business card into my hand and walked off down the corridor. I stared after her dumbfounded. Why the hell did she want me to be on TV?

Suddenly I felt a pair of strong arms wrap themselves around my waist and a gentle kiss on the back of my neck. I turned around and kissed him.

"Jeez, can't you two keep your hands off each other"

It was Laura.

Ronan laughed, "No!" he said defiantly.

"Ronan, can I have a word" she said seriously, openly glaring at me.

"In private"

"No Laura! We're all part of the same team, whatever you want to say it can be said here"

"Oh, Er..." she seemed a bit flustered now.

"I thought if there was no video or video link up with Lulu, then that was my song" she said.

"No Laura" he said, "That's my song, and I'll do what I want with it"

He grabbed my hand and we walked off down the corridor, leaving her staring after us.

"She doesn't like me!" I said when we were out of earshot.

"I know" he frowned at me, "I don't know why though, you're so lovely to everyone"

"I do"

"Hmm?" 

"She fancies you"

He looked at me confused. "Oh come on Ro! It's obvious!"

"She even tried to warn me off you!"

"She did?"

"Yeah, she said you'd get fed up with me"

"Never" he said, turning and taking me in his arms.

"Now" he said, gazing into my eyes with a look I knew only too well. "Would you like to see my dressing room?"
