"Hey you!"
"Hello, I tried to call you earlier"
"Did you? Sorry babe, I've been in the music room for most of the day, you know we're not allowed our phones in there"
"Oh yeah, how's it going?"
"I've got a real bugger of a song to learn for next week" I said, trying not to laugh.
"What is it?"
"I can't tell you, Simon will kill me!" I said, "But it's a bloody hard song!"
"Ah keep practising it hon, you'll be fine"
"Hmmm" I said, unconvinced.
"Hey, how's your new girlfriend?" I said giggling.
"Huh?"
"Oh Vic!!" he said laughing, "I guess you saw the paper?"
"Er, yeah you could say that. Louis went a bit mental"
"Remind me never to cross him! He's very protective of you"
"I know" "I can't believe she had the nerve"
"I can! Looks like she might need that copy of the stage after all..." I said laughing.
"Listen Ro, I've got to go. We've got some press stuff to do" "Don't worry, I won't talk about you..."
"Babe, you can talk about me as much as you like? I don't mind if you do, as long as it's nice..."
"Awww Ro, I miss you!" I felt sad suddenly, as I knew we wouldn't be seeing each other for a while.
"I miss you too babe. Look, I'll be able to come over for the show in two weeks time"
"What if I get booted out this week?"
"You won't!!"
"But if you do, you can come and keep me company"
That cheered me up, I wouldn't mind getting voted off if it meant I could spend more time with Ronan.
Saturday night came and I felt sick with nerves. I couldn't believe I was about to murder one of Ronan's songs live on national TV.
I'd never live it down.
Then I saw Sophie in the audience, I almost forgot that she was coming tonight.
I was the final act of week five.
Somehow I made my way through our slower arrangement without messing it up. I breathed a sigh of relief when it was over.
But it must have been better than I thought, because the studio audience went mad.
The judges unanimously agreed that I should still be here next week, at least I wouldn't have to wait long to find out.
"Vicky" said Sharon, looking very pleased with herself. "I chose that song for you as a challenge," she paused.
I laughed, I'd thought she'd chosen it to wind me up.
"You rose to that challenge....and it was bloody brilliant!" she grinned at me.
I smiled at Kate.
"If you want to see Vicky here next week, then please dial...." she read to the camera.
I sailed through to week six, with no problem at all.
Sophie came to find me after the show. She was laughing hysterically. "Whatever possessed you to do that?" she laughed.
"Not what? Who!" I said
"Sharon Bloody Osborne!"
"Oi!" said Sharon as she came around the corner.
"I hope you're not talking about me?"
"'Course not"
"Well I thought it was awesome Vic" said Sophie.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I can't wait to see what Ronan thinks of it!!"
"Oh god!" I groaned, I'd almost forgotten about that, "He's probably gonna see it tomorrow" I said.
"And wonder what the hell I've been doing...."
