Fifty Eight

"Vicky!"

What the actual fuck?

Did I just hear correctly?

Kate was grinning at me, I must have. I hugged Zoë, who didn't look surprised at all. "I knew you'd do it" she whispered to me.

"You did? I didn't!" I whispered back.

Suddenly all three judges were on stage with us, Kate and Zoë slipped quietly to the side.

"Singing live, one more, is your X Factor winner" said Peter Dickson the voice over guy. I'd forgotten that whoever won, had to sing over the final credits. "It's Vicky"

I met up with my parents, Sophie and Dave and Ronan at the wrap party. Sophie was jumping up and down like a little kid, and Ronan was grinning at me like a Cheshire cat.

"I knew you'd do it babe" he said to me. I just smiled at him, I think I was still in shock.

I'd just taken a glass of champagne from a passing waiter, when Simon came along and took it out of my hand. "There'll be none of that young lady. Thank you!"

"I want you in the recording studio first thing on Monday morning"

"Aw Simon, I've not had a drink for at least two months!" I pulled a face at him and tried not to laugh.

This wasn't strictly true. I thought back to the time that I spent in Dublin with Ronan when we'd spent most of the day drinking champagne.

"Hmmmm" he smiled at me.

"Well I suppose ONE won't hurt" he handed me the glass back and walked away.

"Ladies and Gentleman" screeched Sharon suddenly.

"I have a little announcement to make"

"I would like to congratulate my little protégé here", she said smiling at me, "for winning the series, I have someone here who'd like to say a few words..."

Ronan moved from her side and stood in front of me.

"Vicky" he said, taking my hand.

"I've missed you so much. I just wanted to tell you that I love you!"

"Oh Ro.." I whispered.

"I'm so glad that we could all be here tonight" he continued.

"Your parents especially as I had a small question that I wanted to ask your dad"

My mum laughed at this. Was I missing something here??

"And now there's a small question that I want to ask you"

He got down on one knee in front of me, and pulled a small jewellery box from his pocket. He opened the box, inside was the most stunning diamond ring I'd ever seen in my life.

"Will you Marry me?"

"Yes!"
