I couldn't shake the guilt I felt about not being there.
Nothing had actually happened between Laura and I, and I don't know what made me agree to meet her in the pub, leaving Jess with my parents, telling them I had some work related stuff to sort.
I do know that I shouldn't have encouraged her.
Of course I knew how much she'd liked me. It was obvious for anyone to see.
I don't think I was jealous of Vic's career, I don't know what it was.
I loved her of course I did, but I just don't think that I was in love with her anymore.
The more she questioned me, the more I denied that anything was wrong of course.
But I think deep down that I knew it was over then.
