When I awoke the following day, Ro was nowhere to be seen. I glanced at the clock on the bedside table - 12.00.

No wonder. I'd been asleep like, forever.

I got out of bed and got dressed slowly, before going to check on Jessica. I panicked slightly when I saw she wasn't in her cot, but then I realised that Ro must've had her.

I'd never been a worrier before, it was amazing what having a child did to your hormones!!

The door to the studio was open as I made my way through the house, I had intended to get myself a drink, but thought I'd best say good morning, (or afternoon) to the husband! The scene that greeted me was an unusual one, but very sweet.

Ro was sat back in his chair, feet up on the mixing desk, on the phone to someone, and Jessica was fast asleep in Mike's arms. I hadn't even heard him come in...

"Hey" I said softly, not wanting to disturb Ro or wake Jessica. Mike looked up and smiled at me. "Suits you" I said cheekily.

He blushed. "Thanks, I think"

"Here, let me take her" I reached out and took my sleeping daughter from his arms, shivered slightly as his skin made contact with mine. I cuddled Jessica close to me, I must have just been cold.

Mike obviously felt it, he looked up and caught my eye, "Are you ok Vic?

I nodded. "I'm fine. Who's Ro on the phone to?"

"I'm not sure. The Gardai I think"

"What the hell is he...."

Mike looked slightly uncomfortable.

Oh

I suddenly felt embarrassed that I'd made such a fuss. And what he hell was Ro doing telling Mike about it anyway, he must have thought I was some kind of neurotic.

"Do you want a drink?" I asked, desperately trying to keep the focus away from me and my stupid ex boyfriend.

"Coffee would be great, thanks" I nodded and left the room, my heart beating so fast I thought it would burst out of my chest. Sodding hormones!!!!

I looked down at my sleeping daughter and smiled ruefully. "You missy, have a lot to answer for" I whispered as I made my way into the kitchen. I flicked the switch on the kettle then sat down at the kitchen table, Jessica still fast asleep as I waited for the kettle to boil.

"Hey are you ok Vic?"

I looked up startled, hadn't heard him enter the kitchen. I bit my lip, what could I say to him. I didn't know what Ro had told him, and presumed he didn't know about Dan from the first time around, so I said nothing, just nodded.

He didn't look convinced.

I sighed, he clearly wasn't going to let it drop. He loved Ronan like a brother, obviously didn't want to see his wife upset as well. "What has Ro told you Mike?" I asked softly.

"Nothing" he sighed. "I asked him what was wrong when I arrived this morning. There was something on his mind, I could tell. But he won't tell me a thing. Just said he needed to call the Gardai about something"

"Are you both ok, is it some sort of security issue. 'cause if it is then Ro just needs to call Barrie and he'll be 'round like a shot"

"Not exactly" I sighed. "When I met Ro I was going out with this guy. Turned out to be a bit of nut job to be honest"

"He..." I blinked away the tears that were beginning to form in my eyes. "He did some pretty awful things Mike. I..."

I think he sensed I didn't really want to talk about it. He leant over and squeezed my free hand gently. "It's ok Vic, you don't have to tell me. But I want to help you"

I let go off his hand and wiped away the solitary tear that had fallen. "It's ok Mike" I said and smiled half-heartedly, nodded down at Jessica. "Bloody hormones don't help!"

He laughed. "I can imagine"

"Anyway, we had, I had a letter from him yesterday, but I don't even know how he got our address..."

"Ok it all makes sense now. Look try not to worry Vic. Ro's a good man, he won't let anyone hurt you"

"I know Mike. I'm sorry I shouldn't have been dragging you into this. But Ro's got a lot on at the moment. The studio are really pressing him to finish the album and..."

"Hey Vic, it's ok. Really"

"You can call me anytime. You know that don't you"

"Ro's got my number"

"Thanks Mike. That means a lot"

I got up from the table slowly and went and placed Jessica in her crib in the corner, when I got back Mike was staring at me oddly, "Anyway, about that coffee...."
