Taylor had been trying hard for more than a month now, she was attending her therapy sessions, following her meal plan, taking care of herself. Both of you were back to be eating together dinner again. It was Tuesday and she had an appointment with her dietician and she was VERY nervous about it.
- "You'll be fine, Tay. All the other appointments have been good" Tree said sitting beside her in the waiting room
Taylor was fidgeting with her fingers: - "You're right... it's just... I hate standing on the scales and not knowing, even though I know it's for the best"
Tree nodded and smiled softly. Soon enough they were called into the office and Taylor was asked and chatted with the doctor about her habits, then she was asked to step on the machine. As the machine beeped, signaling than the number was displaying on the screen, Taylor flinched. She turned her head to try to look at the number, but the doctor was covering it with a piece of paper. Then she was asked to dress properly again and sit down.
- "So, you've gained enough weight to be within the limit of a healthy weight range for your height. Well, done"
Tree smiled widely and Taylor smiled too:
- "Thanks"
- "I can see that you have been working really hard. That's great, you need to keep it up, Taylor. I'd like you to go to your doctor for a checkup, some obs and bloods, see how everything's going. But you should be very proud of yourself" the dietician said smiling.
- "I have an appointment on Thursday" the blonde replied.
- "Great, then you can email me the results for our next appointment"
- "Sure"
- "Any questions?" The dietician asked. Usually Taylor didn't ask much, the first two weeks were full of questions because she was terrified of what her meal plan said she needed to eat, but then she handled the control to Andrea and Tree and although she was anxious about it, she stopped questioning every food choice they made for her. However, Taylor had a question she wanted to ask today:
- "You said that I'm already at a healthy weight... right?"
The doctor nodded and Tree looked at the dietician waiting for Taylor to continue
- "Well... can I start exercising?" Taylor asked.
The doctor didn't even hesitate to answer, she shook her head:
- "Not yet"
- "Why not?" Taylor asked in an irritated tone.
- "Because you've just hit a healthy weight, you need to maintain it before you can start exercising again"
- "But maybe I could start with some low impact exercise?" Taylor insisted.
- "We're going to start introducing low impact exercise, yes, but not yet. The fact that you're being so insistent on this proves that it's related to how you're feeling and perceiving your body. You want to exercise as a way to control, to prevent your body to change more than you'd like it to" the doctor said looking seriously at Taylor.
Taylor opened her mouth to fight back, but she couldn't defend herself or come up with an excuse. She just stayed there for some seconds until she nodded and was dismissed. She was obviously upset and just hopped on the car, wanting to disappear.
- "Tell me what is going on"
- "Nothing I just wanted to be able to exercise,
She's right, though"
- "I'm glad that you see it, you'll get there Tay, you need to trust us. How are you feeling?" Tree replied.
- "Great!" Taylor replied looking away in a high-pitched voice.
