- "What happened?" Taylor asked panicking as tears streamed down her face.
Tree was holding you and knew it was bad, but didn't want to alarm more Taylor, so she tried not to give her concern away.
- "She will be fine" Tree said as she tried to gently lay you down on the floor.
- "But what happened? She was just running and then collapsed?" Taylor insisted as she helped Tree to lay you down.
- "She was running, she suddenly stopped and was trying to catch her breath, so I stopped too. I asked her if it was okay if I came closer to her, since I didn't want her to freak out even more and run again, she nodded and said that her chest was hurting, she was visibly scared and was shaking. I walked towards her and held her hands. She told me that she wasn't breathing properly, so I guided her breathing for a couple of seconds, when she was calming down, she just collapsed" Tree explained Taylor and you slowly opened your eyes.
All you saw was Tree and Taylor's panicked faces. You quickly remembered how you ended up lying on the sidewalk.
- "Hey Honey. How are you feeling?" Tree asked.
- "I'm fine" you said trying to sit up.
- "We should probably wait a while before sitting you up. Don't you think so?" Tree said gently pushing you back.
- "What if someone sees me here? Let's go home, please" you begged.
Tree glanced at Taylor, she had stopped crying, but she couldn't speak.
- "Give me two minutes and I will help you sit up. Tay, you should probably call your mom, tell her what happened and bring the car to take Lizzie home, she's in no shape to walk back home" the redhead suggested, and Taylor nodded.
- "We don't need mom involved in this. Can't we just keep this to ourselves?" You claimed.
- "No. She needs to know, she's your mom. Besides, she will be so angry if we don't tell her. Go Taylor" Tree said and smiled softly at Taylor, but it came out more like a grimace.
Taylor walked back home and called Andrea, but the older woman didn't pick up. Taylor tried calling her again and this time she heard her mom's voice on the other side of the phone.
- "Hey. Tay, I'm at the dentist. Is everything okay?" Andrea knew that Taylor wouldn't normally insist and would wait until her mom called her back if it wasn't something important.
Taylor could hear all the dentist office noises and knew that her mom was on speaker and regretted calling her, but knew she needed to know what had happened - "Hey mom. Yeah. Mm, well, not really. It's Lizzie, she's safe now, but she ran away when it was time for her afternoon snack" Taylor said as she opened the front door and went looking for her car's keys.
- "What do you mean by 'she ran away'? Is she okay? She is with you right now?" Andrea said worriedly.
- "She came back from school clearly upset about something, afternoon snack was going to be tough, but after she sat down, she just stood up and ran away. She's with Tree right now, she was able to get around the corner, but she fainted. I'm getting the car to go and pick her up, bring her back" Taylor said hopping inside the car.
- "Take her to the hospital instead. I'll meet you there. Try to make her eat, though" Andrea said.
On the other side of the phone Taylor heard the dentist speaking to Andrea: - "Mrs. Swift, I'm afraid you cannot leave right now. You're in the middle of a procedure we need to finish"
- "Can't I come back tomorrow? it's my daughter" Andrea said.
- "I'm afraid we can't. Your nerves are exposed right now, we need to finish this root canal. We'll try to work as fast as we can" the dentist said.
