It was a sunny day at the central park. Families happily gathered around, people walked and exercised, couples shared loving moments, friends played games together. Just as any other day.

A blonde tall man took the day as the perfect opportunity to ask his long-term girlfriend's hand in marriage. The ginger woman jumped in excitement as she gave him her positive response. Some of the watchers around them clapped and cheered in excitement for the soon-to-be-married couple.

A black woman with curly hair took a stroll in the park with her teenage daughter and handsome husband. The girl was preparing for her final exams, her parents decided it would be nice to take her for a walk in the park so she could relax. She couldn't be more grateful for them.

A young small man talked to his friends while sitting at a picnic table. One of his coworkers, a blonde older woman, had offered to buy him a coffee after he spent all night working at his bar. They shared glances at each other that seemed to mean more than friendship for both of them.

A young skinny man with a fashionable and light robe sat with criss-crossed legs on top of a mattress, a radio next to him playing a calming ambience song as he gave his yoga class. His students would say he was a funny man, acting like a drunk sometimes even though he was completely against the usage of any kind of drug.

A father of three kids sat with his wife on the fresh green grass, watching as his kids played around with soap bubbles. His life wasn't like he imagined it would be. It was even better than whatever his mind could even come up with. He gave the woman by his side a kiss on the cheek as he stared at her with heart eyes.

A sweet and shy man took his crush on their first date, choosing a picnic to be their jump-start. He wasn't very good with words. He usually preferred books. But she was bold enough for the two of them. They shared their love for an old horror sci-fi movie, that most people didn't even know about the existence, probably. They felt like that could only mean they were meant for each other.

At last, a recently married couple sat at a bench together. The boy caressed the girl's hand as he handed him a cappuccino he had just bought at a nearby coffee shop.

_"That's your third cappuccino of the day."-He said, letting out a playful sigh. The girl chuckled at her husband's reaction.

_"I can't help it, alright? The term 'eating for two' exists for a reason."-She commented, shrugging her shoulders. The boy reached his hand to touch her belly, that hadn't started to grow yet, but it soon was going to.

_"Kid isn't even born yet and it's already bankrupting me. Ay, ay, ay."

_"You're the top agent in the CIA. Your bank account can handle it."

_"Have you thought about names yet?"-He asked, looking into the distance as two little birds chirped on top of a tree.

_"I like Gabriel for a boy. Maybe Gerard, also. For a girl, Helena. Oh, or Lindsey. I don't know, I have too many ideas."-The girl started listing many names. It was clear she was excited about their newcoming child. Or children. Who knows.

_"And you have all the time in the world to think about it."-He reached to give her a soft peck on the lips. The girl smiled brightly at her husband.

_"Nine months go really fast, you know?"

_"Well, if you're still in doubt in nine months, you can always call him Max Junior."-The girl playfully slapped him on the shoulder after hearing his suggestion.

_"Nope. Terrible name. And it could be a girl."

_"Maxine Junior, then."

_"Shut up, Max."

_"Anything for you, pretty mirror."

None of those people knew each other, and they never would. Yet, they peacefully shared a space, not even thinking much about it.

On the twelfth hour of the seventeenth day of October 2024, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary occurred. You might say it was just a normal day.

And that was good enough.

Final A/N

We've reached the end of "Doppelgänger".

I honestly am not even sure of what to say here. I've cried writing these last two chapters thinking about how it's actually over. It's been three years since I've started writing this fanfic, and so much has happened ever since.

The Umbrella Academy means a lot to me. Not just 'cause teenager me had a crush on a character, lol. The meaning this series has to my heart is more than I could even begin to explain, it goes so deep that even the writer of the comics, Gerard Way,  vocalist of MCR, also means a lot to me. I literally have a tattoo dedicated to the series, and it was the first one I've ever made, back when I was 16.

This fanfic also means a lot to me. Reading back the older chapters, although I feel a bit of cringe (poor young me), I can also see how much I've grown since then. How my writing got better and my English too! So much better that I'm actually planning on studying English literature in college :) Maybe next year, when my daughter grows a bit more hah.

And lastly, you guys mean a lot to me. I've been reading your comments this entire time, and the amount of love I've received is more than I ever expected. I never imagined people would like my stories so much, that I'd receive so much support. I remember all of you, I remember your comments, I remember your names, and I plan on keeping all those memories in my heart. I mean it when I say I love you all <3

It's not a goodbye!!! It's a see you later.

And for the last time (for now)

I love you all. Bbye <3
