In the Hogwarts library, Sasuke and Astoria are reviewing books about caring for their Snidget.

Astoria: Sasuke, the book says the incubation period can vary by 30 days. Artificial incubation is done with an incubator that controls temperature, humidity, egg position (turning), and ventilation.

Sasuke: We'll need an incubator. The flame spell won't stay active for long. Plus, if we increase the temperature too much, the egg will end up cooking.

Astoria: I anticipated that and transfigured an incubator with Luna and Ginny's help.

Astoria pulls out a crystal container, opens it, and motions for Sasuke to place the egg inside.

Astoria: This will keep the egg at a stable, constant temperature.

Sasuke: How will we maintain the temperature spell?

Astoria: It's simple.

Astoria pulls out her wand and summons a flame. With her free hand, she opens the slit at the top of the incubator, places the flame inside, and then closes it.

Astoria: We'll just need to renew the spell every 24 hours. Oh, and I almost forgot—we should cast an unbreakable charm on the crystal to avoid accidents, like dropping it.

Sasuke: Ingenious.

While Sasuke and Astoria were talking, Luna and Ginny approached with their own incubator.

Luna: Sasuke, you're quite practical, aren't you?

Sasuke: Yes.

Sasuke: What magical egg did you receive?

Luna: An owl.

Ginny, with a hint of envy, said:

Ginny: You and Zacharias got lucky—a Snidget and a dragon.

Luna: That's not luck. Luck would be getting a Nargle, don't you think? – The others just nodded in agreement.

Astoria: When will your owl hatch?

Ginny: In two weeks. We've already checked a book on caring for owls.

Luna: And yours?

Astoria: In one month.

Ginny: Then we're better off than Zacharias. His will take at least three months. My brother told me dragon eggs need to be kept at high temperatures.

In the Hufflepuff common room, in the boys' dormitory...

Arnold Summerby: Zacharias, air out the room. It's too hot.

Gerald Cadwallader: I've had enough. I'm opening the window.

Zacharias: Don't do that. We need to keep the room warm for the dragon egg.

Gerald Cadwallader: Find another place for that egg.

Zacharias: But...

Arnold Summerby: We can't sleep like this. Find somewhere else.

Seeing that he couldn't convince them, Zacharias gave in.

Zacharias: Fine, I'll give it to Mady. It's her turn anyway.

As he left the room, Zacharias spotted Mady sitting in a chair near the fireplace in the common room.

Zacharias: Mady, it's your turn now.

Zacharias handed the dragon egg to Mady.

Mady: I can't put it in my room. The girls don't want it there.

Zacharias: My roommates say the same. They don't want to turn the dorm into a sauna.

Mady: I've found a solution.

Zacharias: What is it?

Mady: We'll place the egg inside the fireplace. Since it's a dragon egg, it's quite resilient.

Zacharias: You can't just put it on the embers.

Mady: Not on the embers, but close enough to feel the heat.

Zacharias: But you're forgetting the fire goes out at night.

Mady: We just need to talk to the elf that cleans the common room. They can help us.

Zacharias: You're right. They're so helpful.

Each group found a solution to their problem of caring for the magical eggs they received.

In the Forbidden Forest, Draco, Astoria, Daphne, Luna, Zacharias, and Ginny arrived to find six tree stumps, cut evenly and embedded in the ground, next to a wooden platform. They all had a bad feeling about it.

Sasuke: It seems you're surprised by the stumps.

Ginny: What are they for?

Sasuke: They're for training. You'll need to hit them 50 times—25 with your hands and the other 25 with your feet. But first, you'll run 50 laps around the forest.

Astoria: What about our hands?

Sasuke sighed.

Sasuke: Wear gloves. And if you get hurt, we can fix it with magic.

Zacharias: What's the point of hitting the stump?

Sasuke: It's to harden your hands. That way, your punches will be stronger. Now, get started.

Resigned, they began running while Sasuke climbed onto a tree branch to read.

For two weeks, they complained about the state of their hands from hitting the stumps. Sasuke just ignored them while he read.

As they were about to start their run, Sasuke, sitting on the tree, spoke:

Sasuke: How long do you plan to keep spying on us?

The figure, only five meters away, was caught off guard. Upon being discovered, they materialized.

Sasuke: Headmaster Dumbledore.

Dumbledore: It's impressive that you managed to see me. I know only a few who could detect me, and believe me, I can count them on one hand.

Dumbledore's mind was in turmoil. He hadn't expected Sasuke Uchiha to spot him so easily. It wasn't as if he could feel his magic—it was more as if he saw him with his own eyes.

Sasuke: Stop avoiding the subject. You've been spying on us for days, and I want to know why.

Dumbledore: I was just taking a walk.

Sasuke: While invisible.

Dumbledore: Old habits.

Sasuke jumped down from the tree and landed near Dumbledore.

Sasuke: You should control those habits, or I might think you have bad intentions and consider you an enemy.

Dumbledore: I would never harm a student, Mr. Uchiha.

Sasuke: Who's to say you won't be the one getting hurt?

Dumbledore and Sasuke exchanged a long look until Sasuke broke the gaze.

Sasuke: I'll take my leave. I have things to do. If you stay, tell them to continue with what's planned. But if you go...

Sasuke left a note on one of the stumps as he walked back toward the castle.

Just as Sasuke was about to leave, he stopped.

Sasuke: I almost forgot: congratulations on having a phoenix as a pet and not a cat, toad, parrot, or rat. Your group would suffer the consequences, wouldn't they?

Sasuke resumed walking toward the castle.

Dumbledore stood there, pondering Sasuke's words: "Who's to say you won't be the one getting hurt?" and "Congratulations on having a phoenix as a pet and not a cat, toad, or rat, because your group would suffer the consequences, wouldn't they?"

And then he understood. Sasuke Uchiha knows about the Order of the Phoenix. But how?
