Highgate, North London, England.
At Highgate Cemetery, a collective burial was held for witches and Squibs who perished in the battle against Voldemort's forces. Most of the Ministry of Magic staff were present, including Amelia Bones, Rufus Scrimgeour, and Sasuke Uchiha.
The burial proceeded quietly, without incident, and the ashes of the deceased Muggles were repatriated to their homes. As for the Death Eaters who died, their bodies were returned to their families for burial in their family crypts.
In Godric's Hollow, Sirius Black was being buried alongside Remus Lupin and James Potter. Only members of the Order of the Phoenix were present: Harry, Ron, Hermione, the Weasleys, Andromeda Black, Ted Tonks, Nymphadora Tonks, Dumbledore, and Professor McGonagall. There was no one else; the burial was somber, with everyone offering support to Harry.
Upon returning to Grimmauld Place, Dumbledore called Harry for a conversation.
Dumbledore: Harry, have a seat.
Harry: What's going on, Professor?
Dumbledore: While we were sorting through Sirius's belongings, we found his will. He left you everything he owned.
Harry: Oh, that's nice.
Dumbledore: As you know, Sirius lost all his money as compensation to Mr. Uchiha.
Harry clenched his hands at the mention of that name and nodded.
Dumbledore: However, anticipating this, Sirius sold all the Black family properties. Therefore, a considerable amount of gold will be added to your account at Gringotts, and you will inherit all of Sirius's personal belongings. He also left you Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place.
Harry: We can continue using it as Headquarters.
Dumbledore: That is generous, but we have a slight problem. We need to confirm this as soon as possible. The Black family tradition states that the house must pass directly to the next heir bearing the surname 'Black.' Sirius was the last of that line, as his younger brother Regulus died before him, and neither of them had children. While the will makes it clear that he wanted you to have the house, there may be a spell or enchantment in place to ensure it cannot belong to anyone who is not of pure blood. We need to confirm this before the spell activates and expels us from the house.
A vivid image of the scandalous and ghastly portrait of Sirius's mother, which hung in the hallway of Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, flashed into Harry's mind.
Harry: I bet there is one.
Dumbledore: Exactly. If such an enchantment exists, the most likely owner of the house would be one of the nearest living relatives, which leads us to your cousin, Narcissa Malfoy.
Harry: No, the Malfoys cannot have the house. They are Death Eaters.
Dumbledore: But there's a simple way to find out. If you inherited the house, you also inherited Kreacher.
With a flick of his wand, Dumbledore summoned the elf.
Kreacher: KREACHER WILL NOT DO IT! KREACHER WILL NOT DO IT! KREACHER WILL NOT DO IT! HE BELONGS TO MRS. NARCISSA.
Harry: I don't care; I don't want him.
Kreacher: WILL NOT DO IT, WILL NOT DO IT, WILL NOT DO IT.
Dumbledore: So you would prefer Narcissa Malfoy to bear the responsibility, considering he has lived under the Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix for nearly a year?
Kreacher: WILL NOT DO IT, WILL NOT DO IT, WILL NOT DO IT.
Harry realized that Kreacher possessed a lot of information and couldn't simply leave.
