News of Dumbledore's death spread rapidly across the magical community, overshadowing the celebrations everyone had been enjoying after Voldemort's downfall and the end of the war.

Preparations for the funeral and burial were swift.

Now, at Hogwarts, a large crowd had gathered on the school grounds; the gates to the main entrance were wide open to allow visitors in. The Durmstrang ship was anchored in the lake, having brought representatives from that school, while beside Hagrid's cabin was the Beauxbatons carriage, which also brought some representatives, including their headmistress, Madame Maxime.

Hours later, near the lake, all visitors had gathered. There was a large number of chairs, some already occupied by old and young alike.

Among the members of the Order of the Phoenix were Kingsley Shacklebolt, Alastor Moody, Tonks, Bill, Charlie, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Percy, Fred, and George.

Two rows back sat Madame Maxime, who occupied two and a half chairs, Tom the barman of the Leaky Cauldron, Arabella Figg, members of the musical group The Weird Sisters, Ernie Prang, the driver of the Knight Bus, Madame Malkin from Diagon Alley's robe shop, the barman of the Hog's Head, and the witch who pushed the sweets trolley on the Hogwarts Express.

The castle's ghosts were also present, including Peeves, who, fortunately for everyone, was behaving himself.

Nearly the entire staff from the Ministry of Magic attended, taking up many seats on the right side, led by Amelia Bones, Rufus Scrimgeour, and Cornelius Fudge.

On the left were the Hogwarts teachers, with students from all four houses who were able to attend seated behind them. In the front row were Professor McGonagall, Professor Slughorn, Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout, Professor Kettleburn, Professor Grubbly-Plank, Professor Trelawney, Madame Pomfrey, Madame Pince, and Filch.

Suddenly, a sound caught everyone's attention; many heads turned, alarmed, searching for the source of the noise.

Harry, who was near the end of the row with Hermione, Ron, Neville, Dean, and all the younger members of the Order of the Phoenix, was able to identify the source.

In the lake, a choir of merfolk was singing in an unfamiliar language, incomprehensible except to those who had learned to speak it.

As the singing ended, everyone turned towards the aisle between the chairs and saw Hagrid slowly walking toward the altar. He was silently weeping, his face streaked with tears, and in his arms, wrapped in purple velvet with golden stars, lay Dumbledore's body.

Many present began to cry, remembering the kind headmaster.

Rita Skeeter, meanwhile, glanced around as if searching for someone, while her enchanted quill swiftly scribbled on the parchment floating beside her.

A small man in black robes rose from his seat and stood before Dumbledore's body, beginning his eulogy.

After a few words, the man in black returned to his seat; no one else rose. Suddenly, bright white flames burst around Dumbledore's body and the table on which it lay: the flames grew higher and higher, obscuring the body. Smoke spiraled into the air, forming strange shapes, but in the next moment, the fire had vanished.

In its place, a marble tomb encased Dumbledore's body and the table on which it lay.

There were more laments, as a flurry of arrows cut through the air, landing far from the crowd.

Those present understood this as the centaurs' tribute, who then retreated into the cool trees.

Similarly, the merfolk slowly sank back into the water, disappearing from sight.
