Patronus

The sixth-year Slytherin and Gryffindor students arrived at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom nearly crawling, having sprinted their way there.

Inside the room, Professor Moody awaited them, seated at his desk.

Moody: Glad you all made it. Find your seats and open your books to page 420.

Reluctantly, the students opened their books. Only a few seemed fine and showed no signs of exhaustion. Those who found the page were surprised by the title.

Moody: The Patronus Charm!

Moody: Now, who can tell me what this charm is used for?

Several Gryffindor students raised their hands first, followed by the Slytherins.

Moody: Mr. Creevey.

Colin: It's a powerful weapon against the most lethal dark creatures, professor. It repels dementors and can also fend off lethifolds.

Moody: Very good, Mr. Creevey. Five points to Gryffindor.

Moody: Many of you may have read about this spell. It's an advanced one, powered almost entirely by happiness. What makes it difficult, you ask? Does anyone want to try?

Professor Moody intentionally glanced at the Weasley girl. However, a Slytherin student raised her hand.

Moody: Miss Selwyn.

Tiffany: It's not as simple as just happy memories. It has to be something that changed your life at the moment it happened and still affects you today. The stronger the joy, the stronger the Patronus.

Moody: Well said, Miss Selwyn. Five points to Slytherin.

Moody: It seems everyone has some knowledge of the subject.

Moody: The Patronus has two forms. The first is the mist form, and the second is the final form, where the Patronus takes the shape of a living creature that best reflects the caster's heart, not unlike an Animagus.

With a circular motion of his wand and an incantation, Professor Moody summoned a thick mist that lingered briefly before vanishing.

Moody: This is the first form of the Patronus.

Moody moved his wand again and recited the incantation. Expecto Patronum!

Once more, the mist appeared, condensed, and took the form of a bird of prey.

Moody: This is the final form of the Patronus.

The bird of prey soared around the room before disappearing.

Moody: There are other types of Patronus, those that take the form of magical creatures. They are rare, and few wizards have ever produced them, but they all share one thing in common: they were cast by some of the most talented wizards to have ever lived. One example is your headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, whose Patronus is a phoenix.

The entire class listened attentively to Moody's words.

Moody: Take out your wands and practice.

A student raised his hand again.

Moody: Mr. Creevey.

Colin: Professor Moody, is it true that dark wizards cannot summon a Patronus?

Moody: It is true. The Patronus is a positive force, and a dark wizard, if they managed to summon one, would be attacked by their own Patronus.

Several Gryffindor students glanced at the Slytherins, particularly at Sasuke.

Moody: Begin.

Half of the Gryffindor students managed to produce a corporeal Patronus. Ginny produced a horse, Colin summoned a puma, Melinda a barn owl, Romilda a cat, Ritchie a wolf, while the others only managed to produce mist.

They were all new members of the D.A., where they trained under Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Moody: Well done, Gryffindor. 20 points for each corporeal Patronus and 5 points for those who produced mist.

The Gryffindor students smiled proudly as they glanced at the Slytherins.

From the other side of the room, the Slytherins' voices could be heard.

Expecto Patronum!

Several corporeal Patronuses began to appear, while others only mist. Astoria produced a swan, Tiffany a sparrow, Sean a serpent, Madeleine a dog, while the others only managed mist.

But one person hadn't even tried; Sasuke leaned against the wall with his eyes closed.

Moody: Well, Slytherin, 20 points for each corporeal Patronus and 5 points for those who produced mist.

Moody: Mr. Uchiha, why aren't you practicing?

Murmurs started to circulate about Sasuke, some saying he couldn't produce anything, others whispering that dark wizards couldn't summon a Patronus, or that his Patronus would be a ridiculous animal.

Sasuke: I see no reason to display my Patronus.

Moody: What?

Moody remembered Tonks' warning about Sasuke's Patronus, which had caused nightmares and didn't resemble any animal, magical or otherwise.

Colin: What's the matter, Uchiha? Even beginners can manage some mist.

Most of the Slytherins thought to themselves that this guy was an idiot.

Moody: You're in class, and you need to practice.

Sasuke: As you wish, but if it destroys the room, don't blame me.

Most wondered what he meant by that.

Sasuke extended both hands, one holding his wand, and recited the incantation.

Expecto Patronum!

Immediately, purple bones began to materialize around him. The Slytherins trembled in fear, recalling what those bones signified.

Moody: That's enough. Class dismissed for today, you may leave.

All the students left.

As they exited, Moody sat down in a chair, his mind reflecting on that feeling of death. It was as if a predator had been standing right in front of him, and those purple bones combined with the glow of the Patronus... or was that his Patronus?

In the hallways, many whispered about Sasuke's Patronus, which had been interrupted by Moody, preventing him from revealing its full form.

Deep in the Forbidden Forest, Sasuke continued experimenting with the Portkeys. With a wave of his hand, he caused the six magical artifacts to start glowing. Patterns began to form from each, intersecting and creating a six-pointed star.

Sasuke: Winki, on the count of 3, grab the Portkey. 10 seconds later, do the same, Alpha.

Winki and Alpha: Understood, master.

3, 2, 1.

Winki grabbed the bell-shaped Portkey, but it didn't activate.

Sasuke: Good.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Alpha grabbed the cup-shaped Portkey, and it too remained inactive.

Suddenly, the glow from the magical artifacts faded, causing both Portkeys to activate.

Sasuke: Damn.

In his mind, Sasuke thought the magic of the artifacts wasn't enough, and that if there was a prolonged battle, they wouldn't be useful. He needed to find a solution quickly—try a different approach or move on to another project to clear his mind.
