The End of an Era II

Draco and Narcissa walked toward the room where the fallen lay.

Draco was taken aback to find the parents of his fellow Slytherins beside the bodies, which were covered with sheets.

Narcissa Malfoy approached a group of acquaintances, including Mrs. Crabbe and Mrs. Goyle, to offer her condolences for the loss of their sons.

Professor Slughorn and Professor McGonagall were explaining the situation to other parents who had also come to claim their children's bodies.

Barely had an auror entered the room when most parents turned to him, demanding answers.

The room erupted with shouts:

"WHY IS MY SON DEAD?", "WHAT WERE YOU DOING?", "HOGWARTS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SAFEST PLACE!", "WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?", "HAVE THEY BEEN CAPTURED?"

Auror: Please, calm down. I can't answer your questions if everyone is shouting at once.

Auror: Your children were killed by Death Eaters who infiltrated the castle through an unknown secret passage to the Ministry. We have captured all those responsible, and they are now in the Ministry dungeons awaiting trial.

The auror left the room, followed by a few parents seeking further answers.

Mrs. Crabbe: How is it possible that you were unaware of the existence of secret passages?

Her question was directed at Professor McGonagall.

Minerva: I am truly sorry for your loss, Mrs. Crabbe, but the entire Hogwarts staff safeguarded the passages we knew. It appears the passage used by the Death Eaters and Voldemort was unknown to us.

Many Slytherin parents seethed with anger upon hearing the name of the one responsible for their children's deaths.

Narcissa: Professor McGonagall, Professor Slughorn, I am here to claim Severus's body. We will ensure he receives a proper burial.

Minerva: You cannot take him. Severus was a member of the Hogwarts staff, and you have no right to make that decision; you are not his family.

Narcissa: You are mistaken. As you know, Draco is of age and, furthermore, he is Severus's godson. Therefore, we have more rights regarding him than you do.

Minerva opened her mouth to respond, but Professor Slughorn interrupted her.

Slughorn: Narcissa, we should not discuss this here. I believe Severus would prefer us to take care of him.

Draco: I'm sorry, Professor, but he is my godfather, and I will make the decision.

Narcissa snapped her fingers, and two house-elves appeared.

Elves: You called, ma'am?

Narcissa: Take this body to the family crypt.

Elves: As you wish, ma'am.

Narcissa turned to her friends and said:

Narcissa: I think we should hold a joint funeral; they were all Slytherins.

Several nodded in agreement and began coordinating where the ceremony would take place.

Narcissa, followed by Draco and the elves carrying Snape's body, left Hogwarts.

Minerva watched them depart, mentally vowing to speak with Albus.

From one of the chimneys, green flames erupted, and Sasuke emerged, followed by his four house-elves.
