In the intermediate-level tournament, students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years participated. Some students from the 6th and 7th years volunteered to make posters supporting their houses.
On the platforms, which had been restored to a total of eight, the participants gathered as they listened to Professor Flitwick.
Flitwick: THE GROUPS HAVE BEEN DIVIDED. PROCEED TO THE PLATFORM ASSIGNED TO YOUR NAME. THE FIRST FROM EACH GROUP TO DUEL, STEP UP TO THE PLATFORMS, WHILE THE OTHERS MAY WAIT IN THE STANDS UNTIL IT'S YOUR TURN.
The students obeyed, and soon, each platform was ready to begin its respective duel.
On platform 1: Marcus Rosier (Slytherin) vs. Stephen Urquart (Hufflepuff); Jason Blishwick (Slytherin) vs. Danny Quinn (Gryffindor).
On platform 2: Christine Johnson (Gryffindor) vs. Raul Avery (Slytherin); Matt Anderson (Gryffindor) vs. Jess Parker (Ravenclaw).
On platform 3: Kelsey Sayre (Gryffindor) vs. Bridgit Shafiq (Ravenclaw); Tom Travers (Slytherin) vs. Emily Rowle (Ravenclaw).
On platform 4: Evarn Cross (Gryffindor) vs. Dylan Gamp (Slytherin); Mac Rendell (Gryffindor) vs. Tobias Nance (Ravenclaw).
Several professors descended to the platforms to serve as referees for the duels.
Flitwick: MR. ROSIER AND MR. URQUART, PLEASE MAKE YOUR BOW.
Marcus Rosier and Stephen Urquart, both wizards, raised their wands and performed the proper bow. They then turned and walked the required ten paces.
At the sound of the signal, the duel began.
Marcus Rosier: EXPELLIARMUS!
Stephen Urquart: PROTEGO!
The spell bounced back, returning to Marcus Rosier, who dodged it with a quick flick of his wand.
Stephen Urquart: PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!
Marcus Rosier: PROTEGO!
Stephen Urquart and Marcus Rosier continued to cast spells, dodging or blocking each other's attacks.
INCARCEROUS!
JINX!
EXPULSO!
STUPEFY!
Both wizards moved across the platform, trying to find an opening to strike.
Marcus Rosier: CONFRINGO!
Stephen Urquart: PROTEGO!
The explosive curse was not aimed at Stephen Urquart but at the ground near him.
The shockwave from the spell sent Urquart sprawling to the ground.
Marcus Rosier: ACCIO!
Stephen Urquart's wand flew out of his hand and was caught by Marcus Rosier.
Filius Flitwick: WELL DONE, MR. ROSIER.
The Slytherin crowd cheered enthusiastically for their housemate's victory.

Thousands of miles away from Hogwarts, near a forest, a group of six people was walking, each carrying backpacks and rifles, except for two, who carried wands.
Tonks: How much longer are we going to keep doing this?
Soldier 1: Ms. Tonks, we need to keep moving; we haven't lost the signal yet.
