Snape had spent months in France searching for the giants, but his efforts had been in vain. He even visited the same location that Hagrid and Madame Maxime had explored before, but found nothing; the giants had abandoned the area.
He attempted to gather information on his own, sifting through news from both the wizarding world and the Muggle one, but there were no traces of them.
His plan was simple: to find them and convince them that he worked on behalf of the Dark Lord. However, he began to doubt whether this would work, given that the giants who had supported the Dark Lord had been killed by the Ministry of Magic and had served only as cannon fodder.
As Snape walked through a forest, he clutched a map obtained from an information smuggler in the black market named Sylar.
His figure stood out against the surroundings, drawing attention with his black cloak and a briefcase in hand, which didn't match the campers he encountered. They tried to speak to him, but he ignored them and continued deeper into the woods.
Gathering firewood, Snape lit a fire with a flick of his wand and pulled a tent from his briefcase to rest and warm his food. He lay down to sleep, planning to resume his search for the giants at night after casting several protective spells around himself.
At night, the sky was dark, covered with clouds that obscured the stars.
Snape stood up and gazed at the sky with a satisfied expression. Wasting no time, he drew his wand and murmured:
Guide me.
The wand in Snape's hand began to spin until it stopped, pointing north.
He packed everything up, extinguished the fire, and, with a leap, took flight toward the Midi d'Ossau peak.
One hour later.
Snape: They're here, thought.
He landed a few meters away from the giants and cast two spells on himself: "Disillusionment" and "Muffliato."
With each step closer to the giants, the ground trembled as if it were a seismic zone.
Snape was able to see them: there were a total of twelve giants, five males and seven females.
While the females cooked, the males fought among themselves, punching and kicking each other.
Snape decided to wait until they fell asleep before taking action, as confronting all the giants at once would be nearly impossible since they were resistant to magic, and subduing them all would be risky.
Hours passed, and the giants eventually retreated into a cave to sleep, leaving only one giant on guard outside.
Snape opted to wait a few more hours before making his move.
He silently approached and, standing a meter away from the guard giant, waved his wand and began to gather magic before the giant noticed.
The half-asleep giant saw a flickering light. As he opened his eyes, he realized it was a spell cast by a wizard.
The giant raised his club to strike him, but Snape shouted:
Snape: Stupefy!
The spell hit the giant's face, causing him to begin to topple to the ground. But Snape quickly cast another spell:
Snape: Wingardium Leviosa.
The giant fell softly to the ground.
Snape stealthily moved to the entrance of the cave.
However, upon reaching the entrance, he hesitated; there was no guarantee that only eleven giants were inside. There could be more, and entering recklessly could be fatal, especially as his magic would quickly deplete.
